The website is part of an information campaign designed to showcase the area the sacred forests lies in and its people, culture and art, officials said. At the media event on Saturday, a research foundation and information center were also launched. Udayana University in Denpasar has chosen the forest as a research center to study conservation, education and ecological preservation. Australian Schapelle Corby, serving 20 years in Kerobokan Prison for drug smuggling, is to tell her story in a book, My Story, to be published soon.
The tome, co-written with an Australian TV producer, will reveal details of the 29-year-old’s life in the crowded jail and reiterate her purported innocence in smuggling 4.1 kilograms of marijuana into Bali in October 2004, Australian media reported.
The former beauty student will be prevented by Australian law from profiting from expected brisk sales, however, as legislation in force does not allow individuals to profit from illegal activities. Profits instead will go to meet rising legal costs, as Corby’s case is still under appeal, Australian media said. (BT)
