Giddy Up at La Melbourne Cup
Some 50 invited, well-coiffed guests swanned into La Sal Restaurant for the Emirates Melbourne Cup Luncheon to watch the million-dollar horserace that stops the Australian nation. The event was off and racing to an early start with champagne, canapÃ©s and Bloody Marys flowing before the international race was telecast live. Fashions on the field followed a gorgeous lunch, where guests such as the Conradâ€™s Ruth Zuckerman, Villa Aluâ€™s Lewis Norman and Mary Justice Croll dined on a delicious menu of Sardines and Poached Eggs on toast, Stuffed Chicken, Grilled Vegetable Tart and Ginger Cream Caramel with Coconut Chantilly.
Copious amounts of wine flowed as the hyped-up guests vied to win a bevy of sensational prizes for hair and fashion, including villa nights at the Bulgari Hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, Bali Resort & Spa, The Conrad Resort & Spa, The Villas and The Elysian, which were all kindly donated for the bash.
Guests who were racing on the day included the Beaded Boudoirâ€™s Sandra McArthur, The Elysianâ€™s Scarlet Keatinge, The Villas & Prana Spaâ€™s David Kearns and Simon Dunn, Body & Soulâ€™s Melissa Lynton, Mandy Carrington, Anmarie Myers, Bridget Parker and Margaret Barry.
Winners of the day included Lizzie Love for Best Dressed Filly; Claire Quinn and Miriam Becker for Best Chaps, Spurs & Whips; Steve Conway for Best Dressed Stallion; Louise Henry for Best Cup Hat; Mandy Carrington for Raciest Outfit; and Jeremy Cooper as the Biggest Horseâ€™s Ass.
