Shootin’ the Breeze
Well, it doesnâ€™t take long for the savvy Seminyak set to discover any hot new place to sink their fave sundowner from. Enjoying several crisp white wines with a great pal at the fab beachfront Breeze Bar venue in the Samaya Resort last week, we watched the newly renovated timber decks of the elevated bar turn into a boardwalk of the islandâ€™s schmoozers within minutes. Giving Ku De Ta and La Lucciola a run for their prime beachfront locations, the stylish revamped bar on Jl. Oberoi was the scene to be seen with cocktail in hand as the sun set to the live sounds of a retro band. Samayaâ€™s recently appointed general manager Ray Clark and director of food & beverages Torsten Schubert excelled at working the impressed crowd with their congeniality, cocktails and cuisine of tapas-style barbecue baby rib-backs in wonton skin, smoked duck breast tacos, feta cheese and pesto spring rolls. Seen perched languorously on bar stools around the rectangular island-bar were a mix of fashionistas, foodies and photographers, including Paul Ropp, Ines Hornlein, Gigi van Kuijk, Alex Potkonjak, Sophie Digby, Stuart Wilford, Agatha Salmun, Jill Gosher, Simon Dunn, David Kearns, Rick Bolt and Anton Kusnanto, who imbibed the free flow and vibe of the breezy speakeasy with gusto.
