What can be done to improve Bali’s image?

More education is required in elementary schools so that the children are taught how to care for their environment and not throw litter around all over the place. This is so important because tourists come to Bali for its nature and beautiful image.

Are you satisfied with the current level of security?

Yes, I am. Nothing has happened in the past year and a half here, and it’s now a peaceful place.

Is the central government doing enough to improve Indonesia?

I believe the government is working hard but they still have a lot to do – they have to eliminate corruption, be more environmentally friendly and attract more investment.

What are the challenges that lie ahead?

Education – it needs to be of a higher standard so people can get good jobs and increase their standard of living. This is especially true for the half of the population that lives on US$2 a day.

Where’s the hottest spot in Bali right now?

I like places that are less crowded, like Nusa Penida. From there you can see the wonderful view of Mount Agung. I love that place. (BT/AS)
