Kidding Around: The For Sale sign (“Di Jual“) posted on this ogoh-ogoh was just a prank among the kids who worked on the towering effigies for a month and raised Rp5 million (US$543) to cover costs, Made Sarta, a gamelan player at Banjar Pekandelan on Jl. Imam Bonjol in Denpasar, where this image was taken, told The Bali Times. “This ogoh-ogoh represents Gatotkaca (a hero of the Mahabharata epic) fighting an ogre,†he said of the creation that will be paraded around the streets in boisterous fashion on the eve of Nyepi, the Hindu Day of Silence, which falls on Monday.
