Send me an Angel

Oh, what a night! In true Ku De Ta style and flair yet another fantastic I’m An Angel event was pulled off last Saturday, raising more than Rp500 million (approx US$54,000) for some 7,000-plus disadvantaged children in Bali. In its fifth year, organizers reeled in a record 200 guests for the dinner event and auction using donations from some of Bali’s most prominent and generous artists, designers, hoteliers and businesses. Scoop of the night was $5,800 paid for a custom-designed Vespa, which first-time Bali visitor Klara Dallas feverishly bid for. Auctioneers extraordinaire Ku De Ta’s Arthur Chondros and Elite Havens’ Ian Macauley held centre stage and revved the crowd into a bidding frenzy for items such as photography by Rio Helmi, artworks by Pablo, Pascale Doumeng, Yaari and Veronique, jewelry by John Hardy and Dalia, Shiva Diva designs and complementary stays and meals from several-five star hotels – think Ritz, Legian, Begawan, Aman etc. Dinner was a flamboyant six-course affair expertly crafted and presented by Exec Chef Phil Davenport, which featured among it a stunning Foie Gras Terrine, Lobster Ravioli, Balsamic Braised Duck Leg and a Vahlrona Hazlenut and Chocolate Parfait. The heady evening saw the glamorous international social set hit the bar and dance floor with their wings on for some serious revelry! Angels seen flying on the evening included former Olympic Gold Medalist swimmer Michael Klim and his Balinese Princess wife Lindy, Kadek Wiranatha, Nigel and Yani Mason, Paul Ropp, David and Gil Wilson, Ric and Nalissa Shreeves, Steve Kenny, Fifi Ker, Aman Resorts’ Tracey Atherton, Chrissie Lincoln and David Bush, Karma Resorts’ Greg Liddell and partner Vicki, Body+Soul’s Melissa Lynton, event organizers Danielle and Mike Mohan and Viebeke Lengkong, Ross Peat and John Millis, Mary Justice Croll, Claire and Robin Quinn and Ku De Ta big boy Aki Kotsamichalis.
