Spiritual Times – Being a Sun Worshipper

SEMINYAK ~ Do you often get burned – in business dealings, relationships or even as you are sunning yourself on the beach at Seminyak? If so, read on to find out why, and change the pattern.

Since ancient times, we have worshipped the sun – our source of light, warmth, and even life. Yet the first moment we decided to do that (and even base many of our early religions on it) was the moment in which we separated ourselves from our light. This week, a surprising look at how this can make us tend to follow others – our partner, friends, gurus, even cults – how to overcome this, and how we can become our own powerful light source.

Sandra came to me for help with her relationships. “I always end up doing what my partner wants!” she cried. “I can’t find my direction.”

This recurring pattern in Sandra’s love-life reflected her relationship with her father. A leo, she saw him as a very bright light – indeed, as the sun. “I really looked up to him,” she said, “he was golden.”

Always trying to win his love, and stressfully, feeling the need to compete to win his attention from her sister, Sandra felt that she could never win in relationships. Trying hard, but never succeeding – and not getting her needs for love and attention met (which she felt she needed to get from outside herself).

A few days before Sandra’s session, I had a powerful dream, which gave me the deep answer to release her pattern. In the dream, I was telling somebody: “When you believe that you are not the sun, you always end up getting burned by it!” I awoke very excited, saying “that’s it!” knowing this was an answer to something that I had been seeking for many lifetimes.

I asked: “When you look up at the sun, do you know that it is you?”

Sandra looked bemused. “Err, no,” she replied.

“So, imagine, if you are not the sun, and you could float up near it, what would happen, even if you were in a spaceship?”

“Well, I would get burned up,” she said.

“Exactly,” I replied. “Yet, if you were the sun, made of the same stuff, and you were drawn up close to it, what would happen?”

“Well, I would just shine with it, or meld with it,” she said.

“Exactly,” I replied. “So if you are the sun, then you will never get burned, and you will also become the centre of your own universe, attracting others, and radiating light, rather than getting pulled into their orbit!”

Sandra was happy with that, so we changed the belief “I am not the sun,” which you can do for yourself, below. Deep yet very simple ideas like this underlie whole trees and branches of our subconscious belief system. Change a deep simple idea, and all the other (spurious) beliefs resting on it are also released. (This is the detox we are really looking for, when we are attracted to colonics and so on – the mind detox.)

If you often burn yourself while cooking, or get sunburned at the beach, if you get burned in business deals or in your relationships with others, if you always seem to be following others, if you are not sure what you want, if you are attracted to the light of gurus (or leos), then you have this belief. Change it, and become the centre of your own universe, radiating your own bright light – and attracting others to you (yet, without burning them).

Change it for yourself now, by feeling, sensing or hearing the story in this easy meditation, and then changing the beliefs below.

Meditation – I Am the Sun

Relax, breathe and find yourself walking on a beach at midday. A witch is cooking in a cauldron over a fire. She smiles at you toothily. “Want some?” she cackles. Her playful smile reassures you, as you look into the cauldron, full of golden liquid. Words appear on the surface, “It’s you!” and suddenly you are sucked into the cauldron of golden light. Look at your hands and arms as they gleam and sparkle. In the witch’s chamber, she shows you yourself in a large mirror and you admire your goldenness and light-force. She gestures to a doorway, and you walk back to the beach. The witch has disappeared, and you look up to the sky, the brilliant sun and suddenly know that it is you. Enjoy the blazing light of the sun, and feel yourself blazing back. If you want to, float up to the sun and enjoy the feeling of joining with its rays. When you are ready, gently return to the room.

Belief Change:

Do this simple process now to release these deep beliefs for yourself.

Relax, breathe deeply. Now connect with the active, working part of yourself and invite it to be present. Now invite in the feeling, intuitive part. The playful one. And the wise one. With all of you present, say aloud:

I choose to believe “I am not the sun.”

I love myself when I believe “I am not the sun.”

And I embrace it, and I surrender.

Take it slowly, rest afterwards, drink water.

Repeat the process to embrace and release each negative belief, which help in situations like Sandra’s:

There’s not enough for me; she always gets my share.

One is not enough.

Once is not enough.

I must have to fight to win love.

I am not lovable by myself.

I do not love myself alone.

I am not sure that I can sustain myself alone.

I am always the loser in relationships.

I am not my own guiding light

Thought to Ponder: Jesus said “I am the light,” then seemed dismayed at everyone following him, worshipping him. Had he said, “We are the light,” might we be more empowered light-sources, able to follow ourselves?

Postscript: Sandra felt more confident, less needy after the session and better able to direct her own affairs independently.
