Pair Arrested Over Labor Fraud
DENPASAR (BT) ~ Bali Police have arrested two officials of a company purportedly supplying local manpower to South Korea, alleging they were engaged in fraudulent practices, police said this week.
The owner of the company, CV Lintas Indonesia, and its operational manager were arrested, police spokesman Antonious Reniban said at a news briefing on Tuesday.
He said the pair were arrested after complaints from three people in Denpasar who had used the company’s services to gain employment in South Korea.
“The company promised to transport them to South Korea, but after they paid a fee, nothing happened,†Reniban said.
The individuals had paid the company Rp37.5 million (US$3,966), Rp28 million and Rp7.5 million respectively, but a year later no services had been provided by the company, he said.
The pair admitted during interrogation that that they had misled their clients and had received around Rp1.7 billion from 75 applicants.
“They said that there was no demand from South Korea,†said Reniban. (RD)Filed under:
