Boogie Fever at Disco Dave’s

Yet another birthday celebration, to end the week with a colossal bang, was dancing “Disco” Dave Schonell’s 40th party hosted by his foxy wife and Pilates teacher Robyn. Right on! An impressive turnout of disco dudes and divas donned the Saturday Night Fever dress code with gusto, with the birthday boy himself a dead ringer for John Travolta, decked out in white and black studio 54 duds complete with a flamboyant 70’s quiff. Dyno-mite! A fab barbecue feast was laid out and drinks flowed until they were dwindled down to just beers (boy can those Aussie and Gecko boys guzzle!) as the revelers got loud and louder. The couple’s seriously glam new Canggu digs – think sleek Miami Vice-style pad – is seriously tripping. Designed by the Pearl Farming couple together with talented Australian architect John Lincoln, it is high-polished über-glam and striking in its suave design. Throughout the massive garden, guests, including family and friends who flew in from all over the world, mingled under strings of mirror balls and strobe lights, chilled out on velvet bean bags and got down to flashback disco grooves of DJ Gus (but, please, where was The Knacks’ 1979 hit My Sharona?). Seen pimpin’ the joint amongst some 150 groovers were Greg and Marian Hinchcliffe, Riki Tetaina, Georgia and Hamish Sutherland, Lydia and Socrates Georgiades, Nattalia Wiranatha, Kali Sari, Peter and Yani Muir, Neil Fox, Stephanie Bovell, Pip Mattiske and Tim, Peter and Holly Bowden, Sean Cosgrove, Dan and Dalia Brooks, Ana and Maurice Deroiij, Sarah Sellick and Michael Travers and Rachel Brereton. Wiped out and totally awesome, man!
