Indonesiaâ€™s annual inflation rose nearly half a percentage point in August to 6.51 percent from a month earlier, driven by higher prices for education, food and housing, official data showed.
The consumer price index (CPI) for rose 0.75 percent from July, Central Bureau of Statistics chairman Rusman Heriawan said. Inflation in the eight months to August stood at 3.58 percent.
Inflation in July was up 0.72 percent from June and up 6.06 percent from a year before, also driven by higher education costs and fresh food prices.
Govt to Appeal PTDI Bankruptcy: The government will file an appeal over a court verdict declaring state aircraft-maker Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) bankrupt, minister for state enterprises Sofjan Djalil said.
“We will fight legally, with an appeal to the Supreme Court,” Djalil said on Wednesday.
The Commercial Court ruled on Tuesday in favor of some 6,500 ex-employees of PTDI, declaring the company originally headed by former president BJ Habibie bankrupt, as outstanding debts were greater than assets.Filed under:
