Duke of York Arrives for Visit
JAKARTA ~ Britain’s Prince Andrew arrived in Jakarta on Monday on a three-day visit as a special representative for British trade and investment.
The Duke of York arrived at Halim Perdanakusumah airbase on a special flight from Britain and was received by a protocol officer from the Foreign Ministry.
According to the British embassy here, Prince Andrew was to hold meetings with three ministers – for trade, energy and mineral resources, and for state enterprises. He would then fly to the easternmost province of Papua to visit the Tangguh liquefied natural gas field project operated by BP.
The project involves tapping offshore gas fields in Papua’s Bintuni By, which have proven reserves of at least 14.4 trillion cubic feet.
A meeting with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had been tentatively set for Thursday, before the prince left for India.
During his visit, the Duke was also to meet representatives from British companies and members of the British community here.Filed under: Headlines
