What’s the greatest lesson life has taught you?

When I was in high school, I worked as a newspaper delivery boy and did not spend my salary wisely. I was disobedient to my teachers and parents and did not focus on my studies. The end result was that I failed in the final examination.

What’s most important?

Doing the best in one’s life through obedience to God.

What advice would you give the younger generations?

Live for the truth, whatever your faith is, and don’t forget to take care your health, both physically and mentally. And above all, don’t complain about problems that life throws at you, for they are tests that have to be overcome to make us stronger and better human beings.

Are you worried about dying?

No. People neither can run away from death nor decide when to die. It is God who decides – so why should I worry?

When was the happiest time of your life?

When I am with my family and old friends.

And the worst?

When I failed to graduate from high school.

What’s humanity all about?

To be obedient to God and to practice His teachings.

Why are there so many conflicts in the world?

Conflicts arise in the world because people are the instigators, for they often don’t live in harmony with each other, nor do they protect the environment.

Is a peaceful world impossible?

No, it can happen, if people are united and willing to change the way they live. If they live in harmony with each in their neighborhood and not quarrel, it will begin peace in the world.

How old do you feel?

I feel older than the young people around me as I am constantly giving them advice.

Is there anything you still want to do?

Yes, I am trying to be good in many ways. Every day brings about a positive change in me. I am doing this because evil is all around us. I keep trying to be a better human being.

Is one lifetime enough?

No. I want to live in another world.

How has Bali changed since you were a child?

It is has developed in terms of infrastructure, services and jobs.

Has tourism been good for Bali?

It has been good, as long as it has conformed to government regulations. Tourism is business, and through tourism we can know come in contact with people from other countries.

What’s the major difference between the East and West?

Western technology. But basically I think the East and West are one, the difference being geographical.

Have you ever doubted your religion?


What makes you so sure of it?

Because I believe in my Holy Book and what it teaches me.
