Motorbike Gangs Clash in Denpasar

DENPASAR ~ Three motorbikegangs clashed on Jl. Hayam Wuruk, Denpasar, on Sunday, police said.

According to witnesses, the fight started around 1am, when two drunken gang members shouted abuse at each other.

However, it wasn’t until one man, Filipus Reno Wara, 30, arrived with three friends that the violence began.

“I ran away when dozanes of members from the two gangs began to throw bottles and fight,” one local resident said.

East Denpasar Police chief Gede Ariantha said the situation became worse when another local gang got involved in the clash.

Ariantha said officers arrived at the scene quickly and were able to seize seven motorbikes belonging to gang members who had fled on foot.

He said they did not yet know what had caused the clash as they were still questioning and waiting for witnesses to report damages.
