Hey Prince, Wanna Buy a Castle?

BRASILIA ~ What do you give a man who has everything? Another castle perhaps? That’s what Prince Charles had offered to him – in jest – when he arrived in Brazil on a visit.

As the heir to the British throne and his wife Camilla were being shown around the Brazilian congress in Brasilia, a presenter from a national television show known for its pranks came up to him.

Showing a picture of an extravagant castle owned by a Brazilian lawmaker’s family – and currently up for sale – the presenter asked the prince if he’d like to buy it for US$8.3 million but Prince Charles maintained his rule of not speaking to reporters outside of organized events.

Push for White House Vegetable Plot

WASHINGTON ~ Nearly 85,000 people have signed an online petition calling for part of the White House lawn to be turned into a vegetable patch, the plan’s germinator said on Wednesday.

“The idea is for the Obama family to plant an organic vegetable garden on part of the White House lawn, with the cultivated veggies going to the White House kitchen and any overflow going to feed those in need,” Roger Doiron, said, adding that the idea had sprouted last year.

If the Obamas were to plant a garden on the White House grounds, it would have the “inspirational potential” to spawn millions of similar gardens, not only in the United States but around the world, Doiron predicted.
