‘Gay Masseur’ Found Dead, Beaten, Stabbed

UNGASAN ~ Police have launched a murder hunt after a Lombok man believed to have worked as a gay masseur was found dead on Monday, stabbed and beaten, in a grassy area behind the prestigious Karma Kandara resort on the Bukit’s scenic southern cliffs.

One theory police are working on in trying to establish a motive is that the victim met a client who was dissatisfied with him because of his age. He was 44.

Nyambi Bazar was employed at the resort as a carpenter but is believed to have earned extra money working outside the hotel as a masseur.

When his body was found by a local woman, Ni Wayan Sepir (50), it was clad only in a shirt and trousers. The man’s underpants had been used to hide his face, which was covered in blood.

Police believe Bazar may have been killed by a client. They said he was reputed to be homosexual.

South Kuta Police chief Prihasmoko Nanang said it was a vicious attack. “He had a 6cm stab wound and there were wounds from a sharp object on the back of his head,” he said.

The murder investigation is being handled by Denpasar Police, who are seeking to establish who Bazar’s clients may have been.

The body of Bazar, from Pelagan in the Sekotong area of West Lombok and who had lived in Bali for three years, was taken to Sanglah Hospital for autopsy.
