KUTA ~ Police have arrested two men and are looking for two others after the latest assault at high-profile businessman Kadek Wiranatha’s Jl Legian Bounty Discotheque.

Two Australian visitors, a man and a woman who told The Bali Times they did not want their names published, were bashed there in an incident on January 7.

The assault, the latest in a string of affrays at the Bounty Discotheque next to another Wiranatha enterprise, the reborn Paddy Club, led to a Facebook group being formed by Newcastle, Australia, woman Jennifer Philp, calling for the Bounty to be closed until it can be made safe.

In April last year a New Zealand tourist, Sean Headifen, 23, died after being assaulted by security personnel at the Bounty when he became involved in an argument with a barman who threw a glass at him.

He died in his hotel room several hours after the assault. Six men were arrested and charged. The barman, Nengah Mustika, was jailed for six months.

Police this week named those arrested as Martha Aris Cindra Sandias, 23, of Jl Mataram, Legian, and Gede Gunartha Haniu, known as Gus, 22, of Kelotan in Suwung, Buleleng.

They said they would also like two witnesses, Arif Wijaksono, 22, and I Putu Jawanda, 36, of Denpasar, to come forward to give statements.

“They only need to make statements because they were not involved in the beatings,” a police spokesman said.

The two still being sought were named by police this week as Mago, from Ambon, and Leo.

The two injured Australians, who were later treated at BIMC, went to the Bounty at 3am on Thursday, when it was crowded with tourists. Police said the venue was noisy and many of the patrons were drunk.

During a disturbance the Australians were hit with a bottle and a chair, then kicked and beaten.

Police said rings, necklaces and two mobile phones were stolen during the incident, but the thief is unknown.

As a lover of Indonesia, it saddens me that this is occurring. However, its not new.. the Bounty Club is and always has been trouble.. most locals don’t got there, only those looking for trouble, and yet GETAWAY, a popular Australian TV show promotes it as a fun aussie place to be.

Shut it down.. as it should have been years ago! But then again, savvy travelers wouldn’t step foot in there.. they know what its about!

I doubt it makes sense to shut down The Bounty since this will simply transfer the scraps into other bars around. It is a pity, that so many of the aussie tourists really get loaded and lose their respect and dignity as well as their manners and behaviour especially in the bounty. This hitting straight the fact, that local Security Guys can not differ between security and brutality – so one leads to the other.
But it can be easy to solve this. Tourists show more respect, even drunk and The Bounty should get serious securities, not just this anabolic steroid blownup anjing gila

Just shut all of this premises down (Bounty, Paddy Club, etc.) then we don’t have the trouble here and the stoned Aussies will move to Thailand (or even better) stay in their own country.

When I think of the last place I’d want to go out to drink in Bali, Bounty would be at the top of the list. Bounty is nothing more than a bad joke amongst any civilized party people in Bali. It’t the ultimate low class aussie hang out where brainless Aussies can’t wait to take their shirts off, put their drinking bandana’s on and get drunk and get into fights. The most interesting part of going into bounty is people watching the zoo of underage Aussies getting trashed and acting like morons. If Bounty was to get shut down, Bali would be a better place for it.

The place should be shut down,as a lover off bali wouldnt go any where else for my holidays. My daughter age 20 was one of the people assulted in the bounty that night 7th of jan 2010.she was on the dance floor when a gutless bloke punched her in the face when she bent over to hold her mouth ,he bottled her in the head,at the same time another 2 guys got punched as well. When she was leaving past all the so called bouncers with blood pissing out of her head no one did or said anything.as far as i am concerned they dont care less and are involed with all this stuff that was going on.When she got to the hospital another aussie was brought in 5 mins later with stab wounds all over his body ,a sliced head.and his eye hanging out .All the cops did was shut it down 4 one night .Only cause the aussie guy was really bad in hospital and needed alot of operations. Also a young boy and 3 guys at our hotel that week had there wallets stolen in the club. All i would say to young aussies stay away from the bounty. So our holiday cost me another $1500.00 to get my daughters tooth fixed up when we got home .Thank god they have caught the low life scumb that did this .I still love bali booked 4 september this year .ps maybe i should vist the scumb in jail…………
