Americans’ Villa Robbed in Canggu
Sword-wielding hooded thieves broke into the villa of two Americans in Pererenan, Canggu, and robbed the premises while the terrified occupants pretended to sleep, police said.
The break-in occurred around 4am on Wednesday. Police confirmed the incident late on Thursday and said the Americans saw the robbery-in-progress and decided not to confront the thieves as they rummaged through their villa.
However, the robbers disturbed a guest who was sleeping on the second-floor of the villa and threatened him with a sword if he screamed, Ketut Adnyana of Badung Police’s Criminal Division said.
The thieves got away with a collection of cellphones, a laptop, a camera, gold jewellery and cash in euros and US dollars equivalent to around Rp7 million (US$754).
Adnyana said the robbery bore similarities to other recent break-ins in the North Kuta area and that police were investigating.Filed under: Arts & Entertainment
