Forecasts for week beginning May 22, 2010.
By Jonathan Cainer
Full Moons happen often enough yet they’re special, for different reasons each time. Jupiter-Saturn oppositions are also different every time, but far more infrequent. I haven’t seen more than five in my lifetime… and I’m no spring chicken! One reason why this week’s alignment is so important is because it forms part of a wider picture that’s even more unusual. I’ll say much more about this soon. But even if you think you’ve seen many signs of a changing world lately, there’s much more change to come! The current cosmic climate is intense but it’s also very positive.
GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
Have you ever stared at a cloud, wishing it would move aside to let some sunshine through? If it just so happens that the sky changes at that very moment, you can convince yourself that you do indeed have power to “will the weather.” Even if the next time you try it doesn’t work, you still suspect it could happen again. When we manage to persuade ourselves that we have great influence and authority, we create a self-fulfilling prophecy. The Sun now enters your sign. That will help you believe that you’re capable of great things. And if you believe this, you WILL be capable of them. So don’t waste time doubting yourself this week.
CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
Now that Venus is in your sign, this is a good time to acknowledge that there’s not enough kindness in this world. People are too quick to criticise and complain. Where is their compassion, their tolerance and their patience? There’s not always enough kindness in your own world, either. You can’t do anything about anyone else’s harsh attitude, but you can at least resolve not to reply in kind. The key to progress this week lies in sincerity, not cynicism; warmth not coldness; communication not isolation. You may face trying circumstances but they’ll ease up. They may even turn out surprisingly well if you do your best. And to do your best, all you have to do is avoid doing your worst!
LEO (July 24 – August 23)
Have you backed yourself into a corner? Have you given up something that you should have kept hold of? Are you on the wrong track? Be careful how you answer such questions. You are surrounded by people who mean well, but who do not fully understand what it is like to be you. They are expressing strong opinions and, because you are sensitive, you are listening to these, perhaps more than you should. You care about and respect those who want to steer you in a different direction, yet you are doing what you have to do. You don’t have to be harsh or hard in the way you defend a decision. But you should stick with it.
VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
What happens when you turn on a light in a dark room? Nothing actually changes; it’s just that suddenly you see what before you could only imagine. Gloomy shadows disappear. Clear, clean lines emerge. It’s amazing how a little extra information can alter a perception. Admittedly, it can also show up faults and failings that were previously indiscernible. Ultimately, though, we are better off with information, than we are with ignorance. This week’s exact opposition of Jupiter and Saturn reveals much that was hard to see or understand. It also brings you one big step closer to a life-changing, positive decision.
LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
It’s possible to be a millionaire but still feel poor. Or a president who feels powerless. Or to be surrounded by friends but still feel lonely. If that sounds like a sad fact, reverse the notion. You can feel rich even if you’re penniless; strong, even if you’re weak and fully connected to comforting companions, even in solitary confinement. Those who seek to change their mood by altering their circumstances are taking a long (and unreliable) route to a nearby destination. You have only limited control over a situation this week. But the planets insist you CAN alter the way you feel, with surprising and delightful ease.
SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
Don’t look round but I’m standing over your shoulder. You can’t see me, though. I’ve travelled “astrally” to your side. It’s a trick they teach us at astrology school to help us ensure our forecasts are accurate. Anyway, you’re looking good right now… though I was surprised to see what you did last night when you… OK. Enough. I’m pretending. Playing. Teasing you. But for a reason. I want to stress how easily we can assume that someone knows more about us than they do… and how we let this skew our judgement. Nobody, this week, can invade your privacy, read your mind or see your secrets. Act without fear or shame.
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
How tough does life need to be this week? Must there be trouble, tension and turmoil? Has something got to alter beyond recognition? Or can you ride out a storm, surf a wave of change and end up back in a safe, happy place once more? I ask these questions because I want you to consider your own answers. I already know mine! There’s a sharp opposition of Saturn and Jupiter and this is sure to create a sense of upheaval and challenge – but you’re absolutely not going to face anything that isn’t helpful, constructive and beneficial. A happy outcome, even to your most worrying “big issue” this week, is perfectly possible.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
“If only you knew then what you know now.” You might have done some things very differently. Perhaps not as differently, though, as you might now be doing things, if only you knew what you are going to know soon! I’m saying this, not to worry you but to point out that you can’t allow yourself to live in fear of how tomorrow’s perspective may alter today’s. This week’s opposition of Saturn and Jupiter means you do have to stop and think. But only because something in your world could be about to change, dramatically for the better. If you’re not allowing for this possibility, your plans are doing you a disservice.
AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
We think of time as a straight line – an arrow pointing ahead or a road running endlessly on into the distance. Time, though, is a circle – or perhaps a spiral. The past and the future are not as separate from each other as we imagine. From where you are now, you can see every place that you have ever been, and every place that you will ever go to. The past is actually harder to see than the future because it requires us to go beyond the “spin” that we tend to put on our memories. To see the future, just reach for the most inspiring vision you can come up with and start making it real! Nothing need prevent that!
PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
When there is a lot going on, we tend to respond by trying to do as much as we can. It’s a very natural reaction, but it isn’t always a smart one. This week, you find yourself surrounded by people who are making a fuss out of nothing, yet who don’t want to have this pointed out to them. You may not be able to avoid adding a small amount of fuel to their fires, but you don’t have to pile them high and then bring out bellows. Nor need you get too upset or excited about your own dramas. This week’s change will happen naturally and be very right, regardless of whether you tense up or relax. So you may as well relax.
ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
There are some things they don’t teach us at school. We aren’t, for example, instructed in the art of making money. Nor are we formally taught how to deal with pushy salespeople… or, at a more personal level, how to heal emotional relationships when they get difficult. Imagine how much less stressful our lives would be if only we had been shown this at an early age. It sometimes seems as if life is a constant struggle to fill in such gaps in our education. This week brings a challenge you have wondered, your whole life long, how to rise to. You know more than you realise. You’re about to handle it brilliantly.
TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
Think of how shiny surfaces shimmer in the sunlight. When it gets dark, though, we can’t see their reflection. In much the same way, if a shadow falls over our life, almost everything loses its rosy glow. We find fault with situations we have been happy about. We start wondering what we have done wrong and doubting that we can ever put it right again. That’s how we turn small troubles into big ones and unpick perfectly good stitches from the delicate tapestry of our existence. Before you make major changes this week, isolate the issue that is unnerving you. It can be fixed and, once it has been, all will be fine.
