Villa-Construction Ordered Halted
AMLAPURA
Karangasem Satpol and local environmental officials have ordered a stop to construction of a beachside villa at Tulamben because it did not have a building permit and contravened beach set-back rules.
Local owner Made Swala admitted the construction was only 30 metres from the shoreline instead of the 50-metre distance mandated by law.
Swala is the nominee. The property is said to be financed by foreign investors.
The villa plans had angered villagers at Kelod Batudawa who said they did not want a two-storey property including a restaurant in their area.
