Forecasts for week beginning July 17, 2010.

By Jonathan Cainer

We’re approaching the finale of an astrological drama that has been unfolding since 2008. Saturn and Uranus have been playing out a slow tug-o-war across the zodiac, increasing pressure on each other one moment, relaxing it the next. That’s why we’ve all been going through so much change and trauma, as individuals and as nations. Next week, they complete their last opposition for another forty years or so and we all start to breathe easier. This week, no matter what sign you are, if you’ve got something you need to face up to and fix, now’s the time!

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
Why is your life entwined, so seemingly inextricably, with a particular individual? What role are they playing for you? What need are they enabling you to act out? What, in turn, are you doing for them? How healthy is this relationship? To what extent has it fallen into a routine of unconscious limitation and inadvertent irritation? Before you can decide what needs to happen next, you have to understand more about what has happened in the past, and why things have developed as they have. Events this week bring valuable discoveries. Don’t make changes till you’re sure you know where your deepest priorities lie.

LEO (July 24 – August 23)
Go one step at a time. If you reach a point where you’re stuck, change direction. The likelihood is, though, that you’ll keep making progress. The obstacles in your path, this week, will prove easy enough to overcome as and when you encounter them. It’s the ones in your mind that are going to prove trickier. These are theoretical, emotional, imaginary and/or based on fear. Practical solutions don’t drive them away. Only inspired ideas and heartfelt expressions defeat them. The more you think about a problem the bigger you’ll make it. The more you just get on with what needs to be done, the greater the chance of success.

VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
While Venus and Mars remain in your sign, take a moment and appreciate the beauty of the place you find yourself in now. Consider what you’ve left behind, and consider what you’ve summoned the courage to do and create. Your hopes for the future are not unreasonable or unrealistic. You don’t expect everything to go your way or everyone to agree with you. You just want the courage to dare, to dream and to reach bravely for the best, even at the risk of spoiling the mediocre. Why shouldn’t you? Why can’t you? There are no convincing reasons, this week, to hold back what’s in your heart.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
If you’re not entirely sure you know who you are any more, remember who you used to be. Then ask yourself who you’d like to become. That will help you gain a reliable fix on your current position. You’re someone who is on the way from where they were to where they are going. So you must be in the right place… for the time being at least. And people who are in “the right place” find that the right things happen naturally around them. This week brings a chance to rediscover an old source of contentment and explore a fresh opportunity. You don’t yet know quite how fine your future is due to be. But you’re about to find out.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
It seems as if your hopes are being raised one moment, dashed the next. You keep exploring opportunities only to discover hidden drawbacks. Yet it could all be so different with just a small change. Jupiter, for weeks, has been forming a right angle to Pluto. Normally it would have completed the alignment by now, but Jupiter is “slowing down, standing still, then slipping backwards.” A drama is due to drag on. So you’d better get used to it, find the one thing within it that’s good, make the most of it… and be patient. A pleasing outcome to your difficult saga remains perfectly possible but it won’t come in a hurry.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
These are trying times. Jupiter, the ruler of your sign, is still close enough to Uranus, in the zodiac, to make you hungry for change. But it may be a month or more before that can happen. Meanwhile, Jupiter is slowing down, stopping, then slipping backwards. As it does so, it forms a sharp angle to Pluto, provoking angst or aggravation. You feel confronted by a situation that you can neither control not easily accept. It’s got something to do with a lesson that you must fully learn, about yourself, your past… and about your own anxieties. Trust please, that all will be well in the end. All you have to be, meanwhile, is realistic.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
If the right things don’t seem to be happening naturally, perhaps you can give them a helping hand. Are there calls you can make? Actions you can take? Ideas you can try? Perhaps you fear that there is no point. You may suspect you’d be wasting your energy if you were to invest so much effort. You may also fear that you’d feel foolish if you went to all that trouble and still didn’t get a result. Saturn and Uranus, though, are completing the last of the oppositions they have been forming on and off over the past two years. This is no time to be giving up hope. If you’re ready for magic to enter your life, it will yet find a way.

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
To be human is to have a heart like a yo-yo and a head like a wheel. It is to experience emotions that take you up one moment, and down the next. While you try to understand these oscillating moods, your mind goes round in ever-decreasing circles. You cannot change this but you can try to relax and accept it. As you do, you find the wheels slow down while the ups and downs even themselves out. The imminent culmination of a long series of oppositions between Saturn and Uranus means you’re nearly at the end of a great roller-coaster ride. You’ll be out in the calm and comfort of a quieter, easier world before you know it.

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
If you didn’t have feelings you could live an easier life. You could think more clearly, plan more precisely, proceed more directly and operate more efficiently. Would you miss anything? A good question. Just ask any robot whether they feel bad about having no feelings! They have no feelings to feel bad with! The ability to feel bad is merely the other side of the most valuable coin in the human currency. You have the ability to feel good. Very good indeed. Events, this week, will yet help to flip your coin so the happier face is showing. Be glad, even about what makes you sad. There’s more to celebrate than you can yet see.

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
We have an urgent burning need to understand what’s going on. That’s why, when we can’t get hold of information, we create an imagination… and treat it as if it were a fact. Our brains can’t cope with “not knowing.” They prefer to “know” something that isn’t true than to feel as if they don’t know anything at all. Your current curiosity is laudable. You must be careful this week, though, that you don’t let it drive you into a frenzy and end up inventing explanations. The imminent antagonistic alignment of Mars and Neptune implies a discovery that’s potentially priceless. But it will only be of use if your eyes are actually open.

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
We have all been taught to read and write. That doesn’t automatically mean, though, that we know how the world works. It means we can study the books and articles of people who think they know… and understand their words sufficiently to feel that they make sense. Someone, somewhere in your world now has a little knowledge about a sensitive subject. But they don’t know all there is to know. Nor do you. Be wary, this week, of experts offering ultimate explanations. Mistrust too, your own strong opinions. Something is more subtle, more complex (and ultimately much more hopeful) than you seem to think.

GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
Sometimes, before you can attain an excellent outcome, you have to go through a difficult process. It may be the only way to attain the change that’s needed. We have to be careful, though, not to assume that good things are always hard to get. Life can be easy, too, sometimes. Not everything has to be a struggle or a problem. Lately, you have had a tough time. Maybe you have earned the inspiring development that is about to occur or maybe you have just struck lucky. Either way, you’ll have something to smile about soon. Though this week’s events will bring real pleasure, they need not lead to any pain.
