Forecasts for week beginning August 21, 2010.
By Jonathan Cainer
Sometimes, I go to music festivals, where several legendary performers play on the same weekend. You attend one concert of a lifetime; then, a short while later, you witness another. Over the last few weeks, the planets have been staging a festival of their own. We’ve had a rare conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus, an opposition of Saturn and Jupiter and now, Saturn forms a right angle to Pluto. It’s no wonder we’re feeling overwhelmed. This particular alignment is seen as a heavy influence but as it eases off this week, we’ll feel as if we’re walking on air.
VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
Mercury remains in Virgo. That’s an auspicious omen, an important portent, a strong suggestion of a fruitful future. It implies the power to simplify a situation that has grown complicated and counter-productive. You can now make a clear, conscious decision to put a part of the past behind you. You can move forward on a fresh footing. All that’s needed is a willingness to forgive a situation that you resent, to stop worrying about what caused it and whether circumstances are or were fair. Whatever has happened has happened. Only once you accept this can you wisely exert an influence over what needs to happen next.
LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
We live in a world that we don’t understand and can’t control. We don’t like this. It makes us nervous. That’s why we focus so intently on the factors we seem to have at least some power over. Maybe we’re obliged to travel on a boat we can’t even steer but at least we can choose what colour to paint our own cabin. Yet if we all retreat below deck, who will take the helm? It’s clear now, that up in the cockpit, unwise choices are being made. You need to gently get yourself involved with the organisation of some plan or project. You can make a vital difference at one important level and your personal life will benefit from this too.
SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
You like to have answers. You like to know what’s going on, why it is happening and where it is leading. You prefer a clear plan and a strong sense of direction. Whenever there’s confusion, you try to sweep it away with a swift assessment of the problem and a determined decision to act. The trouble is… not all questions HAVE answers. Or at least, not ones that are immediately obvious. Saturn’s right angle to Pluto has put you under much pressure lately. No wonder you want to fix things in a hurry. You’ll make things worse, though, unless you get to the real root of a puzzle before you start implementing solutions.
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
Flies shouldn’t struggle when they get caught in a spider’s web. They should save their strength for the moment just before the spider comes over to get them. Then, with seconds to spare, there’s a chance they might break free. Flies, though, are not famous for their strategic planning. Nor, come to that, are most human beings, most of the time. We muddle along. We make things up. We plan a bit here and there, but generally, especially when faced with something scary that makes us feel stuck, we flap thoughtlessly. This week, though, if you stop and think, you’ll yet see a magnificent way to turn a trouble into a triumph.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
Fantasies! Don’t they just sap our strength and take up our time? Aren’t they just painful because, when we finally have to face reality, we realise we could have spent that dream-time doing something more constructive? There is, though, one good reason to allow ourselves a little escapism. Visions are the gateway to the imagination. In that realm, some very real solutions to some very real problems may be found. Don’t be too quick to dismiss this week’s big idea as a plan you could never act on. Necessity is the mother of invention. You’ve certainly got a need. Now apply the invention… and some effort!
AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
For some people, pain is pleasure! Think about all those people who follow in the footsteps of the Marquis de Sade. Or the athletes who push themselves past their comfort zone for the thrill of success in their chosen sport. Or the romantics who thrive on unrequited love. Now. As the Saturn/Pluto square begins to relinquish its grip, here’s a question. Are you secretly enjoying some aspect of a situation that seems, on the surface, to be undesirable? It’s not going to end unless you’re wholehearted and consistent. You have the power to bring about a big change. But you must be sure you want that change.
PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
The best course of action now is to listen. Listen to what someone close to you is saying; listen to what people with experience advise… but, mostly, listen to what your heart is telling you. Give yourself time to reflect before you respond. You will act with greater clarity and wisdom if you understand the needs of all involved in a sensitive situation. Then you’ll find a pleasing solution to what appears to be a daunting problem. What you face this week is an opportunity and an opening, not a challenge or a punishment. Don’t feel defeated by any factor that seems too big. You’re not alone. Trust your “team.” And yourself!
ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Honesty doesn’t always involve telling everyone everything. Nor does it involve sharing every detail no matter how transient or trivial. There are things now that don’t need to be said. Indeed, if you want to be sure of getting your most important message across, avoid complicating it with extraneous information. Resist the temptation to say more than you need to. Don’t say less than you need to, either. But be aware that sometimes, people hear what they want to hear, not what is actually being communicated. This week, you need someone to listen to you. Be straight but be sensitive, too, to the way it may play in their ears.
TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
Every time you think you know what’s going on, it seems you have to think again. You aren’t sure which promises you can keep and which plans you can see through to fruition. This is not so much because you keep changing your mind, more because your understanding of your circumstances keeps altering. You don’t feel especially secure. But all this will change over the next few days. You are starting to see the deeper meaning of a situation that has been gradually taking shape. You’re learning about yourself, about someone you want to be closer to… and about what’s possible. And all your discoveries are good.
GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
When emotions run high, sensible ideas run away. They hide in quiet corners of our mind and wait until we are ready to seek them out once more. Like field creatures, sheltering from the rain, they prefer not to get drenched in the showers of our passions. You may now feel as if your powers of logic have deserted you. But they are nearer than you think. A fractious or fragmented situation is making you feel excited and anxious. Even if you can’t sort it all out or get it under control, things will naturally calm down. As soon as they do, your wiser instincts will re-emerge, allowing you a more inspiring perspective.
CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
It is hard to understand someone else, if you don’t fully understand yourself. At the moment, you are not sure why you feel what you feel. Intense emotions are welling up and you wonder whether you should be encouraging these or trying to suppress them. You can’t ask for anyone else’s guidance. It has to be your decision – insofar as it is a decision. To some extent, it’s more like a tide that is rising, whether or not you want it to. Where is it coming from? What does it mean? This week’s Full Moon will help you make sense of that. As you do, will get back your balance, your confidence and your sense of inspiration.
LEO (July 24 – August 23)
The Full Moon implies a power struggle. You may be caught up in it… but you can choose to give up, give way and give your energy to something less stressful. Why should you? Because, even if you win your current battle, you’re unlikely to gain much satisfaction or lasting advantage. Let someone else enjoy a hollow, passing victory. Devote your time and attention to finding a way to change your life around so that you get some freedom from a situation that winds you up so much. Even if there’s something or someone you’re trying to protect by fighting, you’ll still attain more constructive results by stepping back.
