Prosecutor Seeks Six Years for Underage Sex Offence

Prosecutors are seeking a six-year jail term for an 18-year-old man charged with having sex with an underage vocational school student.
The man, Pratono, also known as Rudi, was caught in the act in January by a passing pecalang (neighbourhood security) patrol that noticed four motorbikes and a pair of red slippers outside a door of an empty house in Jl Tukad Badung, Renon.
Prosecutor Ni Lu Putu Ari Suparmi told the Denpasar District Court that Pratono and another man, Samuel, who is being tried separately, picked up the girl and took her to a minimarket in Panjer, where they gave her seven bottles of beer, which made her drunk.
Both Pratono and Samuel had sex with the girl at the house but were found by the pecalang patrol at 1.30am on January 12. The pecalang detained the men and called police.
Suparmi said that on the evidence the defendants had violated Article 286 of the Penal Code and should be punished with six years’ jail.
