SBY Urges Obama to Stop Koran Burning

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono urged Barack Obama on Thursday to intervene and stop a Florida church carrying out a planned Koran burning.

Presidential spokesman Teuku Faizasyah said Yudhoyono, popularly known by his initials SBY, had written to the US president to express his concerns.

“In the letter, President Yudhoyono wrote that Indonesia and the US are building or bridging relations between the Western world and Islam. If the Koran burning occurs, then those efforts will be useless,” he said.

“There is a deep concern over the planned Koran burning ceremony as it could spark conflict among religions,” Faizasyah said.

Florida’s Dove World Outreach Center is planning to burn copies of the Koran on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York.

Indonesia is the world’s largest Muslim-majority country.

Maybe SBY should make an effort too, by urging to stop some people in his own country, who are jeopardizing freedom of speach and religion with short sighted and extremist opinions!

Unfortunately, I live in Florida not too far from this man…He’s an embarrassment to our country. Even his own daughter says he is crazy. How does such a man from a congregation of about 25 people garner such international attention? The Media makes these people important when they are not. What an idiot!
