Forecasts for week beginning January 15, 2011.
By Jonathan Cainer
Usually, around this time in January, people in China, Taiwan and Tibet are getting ready to celebrate New Year. Chinese New Year always begins with the New Moon in Aquarius. For there to be a New Moon, the Sun and Moon must be in the same sign. That happens next on Feb 3. This week, meanwhile, there’s a Full Moon. Full Moons require the Sun and Moon to be in opposite signs. The Sun has not yet moved into Aquarius. It’s in Capricorn. That means the Full Moon is going to be in the sign of Cancer.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
Some people supposedly have it all – wealth, success, love, popularity and talent. That doesn’t necessarily tell us, though, that they are comfortable and secure. Others are, apparently, not so blessed, yet they may be enjoying their lives just as much – if not more. Now, here is a big question. Do you want what you think will make you feel happy, or do you just want to feel happy? You have an eye for detail and an ear for nuance. You can immediately see the distinction between those two seemingly similar statements. So, take the message to heart and choose well. You’ll yet have a wonderful week.
AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
How long ago was the Big Bang? What was there before it? What happened to all the anti-matter? Scientists love to debate such questions. Yet they don’t have answers and explanations that are any more convincing than those offered up by the world’s various religions. We are, though, all entitled to believe what we want to believe… as long as those beliefs do no harm to others. IS your life now being shaped and even squashed by someone else’s very rigid belief about what’s right, what’s wrong and what needs to happen next? You are entitled to question this and even rebel!
PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
Are you running out of energy and enthusiasm? Have you had enough of a silly situation? Do you feel frustrated because, much though you yearn to change things, you can see no way to make a difference? Fear not. All is better than it seems. Sometimes, before we can bring about a big, lasting improvement, we have to grow heartily sick of the status quo. We need to understand what’s really wrong before we can set about making it really right. The darkest hour is always just before dawn. In one key part of your world, there has now been an absence of light for far too long. Soon you will see sunshine once more.
ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
You have no objection to being busy. You enjoy working hard when there is a worthwhile job to be done. But you resent getting caught in a cavalcade of chaos. You hate chasing your own tail or having to do things in a hurry that later must be redone properly. Sometimes, though, it cannot be avoided. We find that we can do no more than fight fires, without stopping to work out what’s really causing them. You can’t be one hundred per cent efficient this week, and you will drive yourself crazy if you try. You can, though, be successful despite miscommunication and unnecessary pressure.
TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
Haemophiliacs are always careful not to cut themselves. Diabetics keep well away from sugar. Taureans for similar reasons, are usually keen to avoid awkward emotional experiences. They really don’t recover easily from these. It’s not that you’re afraid of anyone or anything… but you are wary of your own intense moods and reactions. Sometimes, though, an effort to avoid trouble can aggravate the very sensitivity you are trying to keep under control. Watch, this week for an inflatable molehill. All it needs to grow ludicrously big, ridiculously fast, is an injection of far too much hot air.
GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
Have you ever wondered why some people use the phrase “human race”? It’s because life often seems like a race. Or, at least, like a competition to see who can waste the most time, getting the most caught up, in the most pointless and unnecessary drama. The real winners of the race, are the people who realise that there is nothing to race after and who then slow down enough to appreciate the magic of each moment. Life, this week, is putting you under pressure and there is definitely something that you need to do. Just take this in your stride. Don’t hurry, don’t worry, don’t rush. Just focus.
CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
A popular game, during my childhood, was Cowboys and Indians. We didn’t know that the cowboys were really the bad guys and the noble, native North Americans were largely justified in their hostility. The world understands a little more today, but attributions of good and evil are often still confused, oversimplified and based on misinformation. One day, maybe we will all grow out of this childish tendency to judge. For now at least, though, you can raise yourself up and out of a potential conflict. Be careful before you decide whose side you are on. Just try to be on the side of fairness.
LEO (July 24 – August 23)
How are you enjoying the New Year so far? Have you been elevated to a position of power and status? Have you embarked on a brave new adventure? Have you made a clean break with the past and made a dramatic change to your lifestyle? I don’t seriously expect you to be answering “yes” to any of these questions quite yet. In a few more weeks or so, though, you may well feel able to reply in the affirmative. It would be a great mistake to expect “more of the 2010” in 2011. Something very different is due to start happening soon. Hasten its onset this week by exploring new opportunities.
VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
It is far better to forgive and forget than to fume and froth at the mouth. That statement remains true no matter how justified your cause for complaint may be. You have to protect yourself from the negative impact of your own reactions. There is something you need to let go of. You fear, though, that if you do this, you will be sending out the wrong signal. You don’t want someone to think they can just “get away” with bad behaviour and expect automatic forgiveness. Be careful, then, about what you say – but let the past go and move on. To create a positive future you need a positive attitude.
LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
If something isn’t happening, perhaps it doesn’t need to happen. If it is happening, then maybe, it is supposed to be happening. Instead of looking at what’s wrong with it, you should look at what’s right about it. By and large, what’s taking place in your world now is appropriate, even if it doesn’t exactly match your idea of what ought to be occurring. Even if you’re sure that you want to fight for change, you’ll find it easier to persuade others of your case if you first make it clear that you can recognise the merit of their point of view. Seek harmony wherever you can this week.
SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
Like a half-forgotten song, wafting towards you on the breeze, something is calling to you this week. From somewhere deep within, a signal is being broadcast. A message is being sent. Your instincts are trying to tell you something. Or remind you of something. But what? The trick is to tune in somehow, to your inner voice of wisdom. It’s easy to ignore it. It won’t kick up a fuss if you do. But what is that elusive memory that you can’t quite recall and can’t quite ignore? And what IS it suggesting about a certain situation? Trust your instinct and you really will begin to tap into a fountain of wisdom.
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
Two wrongs never make a right. But two problems can sometimes make a solution. This week, you need wit, creativity and ingenuity. You can have it. It’s available. You just need to reach deep inside yourself. How do you access this inner well? Begin by making sure that sharp doubts have not hammered holes into the side of your bucket. If they have, these must be temporarily mended with a little faith. Then, lower the rope gently. If you allow pressure to panic you, the container will start to spin and you will draw nothing out. Stay calm and get clever. One brilliant idea could yet change everything.
