Forecasts for week beginning February 5, 2011.

By Jonathan Cainer

This week brings a conjunction of Venus and Pluto. That suggests much intense passion soon. The alignment takes place in Capricorn. That’s the zodiac sign of Capricorn, not the constellation. Remember that recent news story about a 13th sign of the zodiac? There isn’t one. Nor do the dates for each sign need to be changed. But it did highlight the need to explain that the zodiac signs are precise, exactly equal sectors of the sky. They are named after the famous constellations (or groups of stars) that we see in the sky. But they’re in slightly different positions.

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
When will things change? When they can’t stay the same any longer. When will the pressure ease up? By the end of the month, when Mars and Mercury move out of your sign. What’s going to happen between now and then? You will find out where the limits lie. Some boundaries are very real. You cannot cross them. Others are artificial. They exist only because everybody agrees to accept their relevance without question. Past one of these ersatz obstacles lies your route to freedom, and relief from a current concern. Ask the universe for what you want and you could actually get it.

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
It is relatively easy to comfort someone who feels upset because of circumstances that have nothing to do with you. It is much harder to extend the same sympathy and support when there is a suspicion, no matter how slight, that you are to blame in some way for the way that they feel. Really, though, regardless of where fault lies, a constructive dialogue now needs to take place. Step away from your feelings. Even if another person can’t do the same, you can have a valuable exchange. Progress, this week, won’t all be easy. But it will yet to lead you somewhere truly wonderful.

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Jupiter is in Aries. That, in case you’re wondering, is unequivocal, indisputable good news. It’s enough light to flood the deepest darkest tunnel. Whilst there’s a slight risk that, if you were in such a tunnel, the sight of so much light might give you the false idea that you didn’t have far to go till you reached the exit, it’s nonetheless true that with more light to see by, you’d be much more likely to know where you were going and more motivated to keep on moving! And anyway, you’re not in a tunnel. You are, at worst, in a tricky situation which is about to get a whole lot easier, simpler and happier.

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
There is no point in wishing you could be free to do what you so dearly want to do now. Liberation will come in time. First, you’ve got a demanding, pressing task to perform. It has to be done diligently, carefully and wholeheartedly. It can’t just be swept out of the way. But if you resign yourself to the inevitability of this matter, you may yet enjoy dealing with it. If you’re honest, brave and willing to put progress before pride this week, you may also discover that things improve much faster than you expect – and that new developments help you to lay firm foundations for a far better future.

GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
“What are fears but voices airy? Whispering harm where harm is not?” So asked William Wordsworth, many years ago. Who are we to argue with the great poet? He clearly knew a thing or two, at least about fears. Yet you also know what he knew. You know you needn’t indulge your greatest anxieties. You know the more you worry, the more you find new things to worry about. You’re going through a major change of outlook now. It may yet lead to a vast improvement in the whole of the rest of your life. Even if you can’t quite conquer a fear, you can refuse to let it dominate you!

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
You have lately been struggling, valiantly, with a tough task. Against daunting odds, you have made progress of a kind, albeit not quite in the way you might have hoped. Because you fear that you have not done enough, you are starting to feel disappointed with your situation or even with yourself. But the universe has a way of rewarding those who make sincere, concerted efforts. Despite all that now seems so difficult, you should find, soon, that you have come much further than you thought. You have actually made a significant gain in an area where you thought you had incurred a loss.

LEO (July 24 – August 23)
Life is short. Time is precious. We must make the most of every moment. Does it follow therefore, that we must win every argument? Is it essential for us to use every trick in the book to get our own way? A tense time-related situation is arising. It seems very urgent and important. You have a choice. You can get right into it or you can stand right back from it. The more attention you give it, the more attention it will demand from you. Your time is worth more than this. True success involves feeling good, even about the things that don’t seem to be working, not chasing hollow victories.

VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
Does it matter where you go as long as you go somewhere? A sense of purpose may be a wonderful thing – but by definition, it has a destination attached to it. No matter how good you may feel about rolling down the road, you’ll feel one way if that road takes you to a golden castle on a misty hilltop, and another if it leads you to the rubbish dump. Get a map and start reading it carefully. If, this week, you just follow someone who looks like they know where they are going, you may yet end up where you don’t want to be. Your own judgement is now better than you think.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Here, as Venus forms a conjunction to Pluto, comes a change that puts you on the spot. You may have been hoping for it – but only in the wistful way that you sometimes aspire to far-fetched things. Imagine being a moviegoer, idly ogling some Hollywood star – only to realise the celebrity in question is sitting in the next seat, ogling you! This, I hasten to add, is not a literal prediction. But stay with the idea. In reality, the object of desire turns out to look a lot less lovely. A dream becomes a reality and as it does, you realise there are drawbacks. Still, though, your outlook contains much magic.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
Before any of us can arrive on this planet certain events must take place. Whilst none of us like to dwell too deeply on the actions that our parents took in order to achieve our conception, it is worth noting the global principle, that all humans begin life as seeds, sown in a moment of high emotional intensity. Is it any wonder that we are all so swayed by passion? Why do you now feel what you feel? You cannot explain it, nor ignore it. But you ought to trust it. A conjunction of Venus and Pluto suggests that what’s most unreasonable in your life this week is also, in its own way, most right.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
What do you want to sort out? Your love life? Your financial situation? Your ongoing saga? Your fear of the future? Your unresolved issue? The state of your health? The potential you have yet to fulfil? The disappointment you have never quite got over? The resentment you can’t shake-off? The hope that hangs so tantalisingly near, yet which is still so seemingly unreachable? Here’s an interesting week. It is entirely possible that you may make positive headway in all of the areas outlined above. Total transformation may yet take some while, but progress has begun.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
It is perfectly possible to run up an escalator that is going down. You just have to travel at such a speed as to counteract the descent and go “beyond” it. Eventually, you will reach the top. Unless, that is, a malevolent saboteur is controlling the speed of the moving walkway. If, the faster you run, the faster they make it go, you will never get anywhere. Are you starting to feel as if that’s what you’ve been up against lately? Then cheer up. Venus is in your sign, forming a cathartic conjunction to Pluto. The escalator of your life is finally going in the right direction.
