Forecasts for week beginning February 12, 2011.
By Jonathan Cainer
The planets don’t know it’s nearly Valentine’s Day. They’re not forming heart-shaped patterns in the sky. February 14 matters only because of an earthly tradition. It’s a shame it couldn’t become a floating feast. If it were held, each year, on a day when many people were likely to be feeling genuinely, naturally romantic, it would have an amazing outcome. If your Valentine experience is less than ideal this week, don’t read too much into it. The sky may well bring you the love you want to feel on what it sees as a much more suitable date.
AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
Mars, as you may already know, is in your sign. Hence the energy at your disposal: the restlessness you feel, the desire you’re almost consumed by, the anger you’re experiencing, the passion you’re feeling and the stamina you’re manifesting. Mars is a planet we associate with success, victory and conquest. It’s a planet of war. It governs campaigns, battles even wars. Soldiers are ruled by Mars, as are sports people. Mars gives courage but also makes us very aware of the need to overcome fear. This week brings a challenge you simply must rise to. And you will. Well!
PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
It’s amazing how often we talk without really saying anything. Even when we exchange news on a daily basis, we often withhold crucial information. We don’t tell others what we don’t want them to hear. They are similarly selective when communicating with us. That’s probably good. Some things, we are better off not knowing. But sometimes, we omit information it might be wiser to share. You are reluctant to reveal too much this week, lest this puts you at a disadvantage. If, though, you treat almost everyone as a friend, you can trust you will get the help you need.
ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
How very odd the world is. There are surpluses in some places, shortages in others and I am not merely referring here, to matters of money, food or climate. Half the planet is deeply religious, the other half wildly irreverent. Half are apparently happy to be governed by an autocracy, the other half demand democracy. And often it seems that half of us are bored witless while the other half are scared. Now look at your own life. What have you got far too much of? What do you sorely lack? Surely a trade-off can occur? Of course it can. And this week, a very good swap can yet be made.
TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
Sometimes, we all feel as if the only solid ground beneath our feet is our faith. Recent events have challenged and partially changed your beliefs. Much that once seemed so certain has now been closely inspected and found wanting. But in the process of rethinking old ideas, you have also found answers to issues that have perplexed you for ages. You continue to be granted, this week, the gift of being able to solve mysteries, including one that involves a partnership or joint financial situation. As you make sense of what has confused you, you’ll also start to feel much more secure.
GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
You have to have respect for the truth, just as you have respect a sharp knife. Both will cut you if you’re not careful. Used in the right way the truth can be of enormous benefit. Used in the wrong way it can do irreparable harm. Your responsibility this week, is to be discreet without compromising your integrity. This requires a degree of delicacy, but all will be fine as long as you resist the urge to score points. The truth can only help you if you are willing to trust it. It may be more comfortable to believe in a convenient distortion of reality, but you will profit far more from facing bald bare facts.
CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
When you make a commitment, you give your heart and soul to it. When you experience passion, you feel it with every fibre of your being. When you are upset by something or someone there’s no denying it. Life, lately, has been an intense roller-coaster ride of emotion. You have wrestled with a big doubt and a lingering difficulty. Here comes your reward. Vindication. Reassurance. An experience of comfort that sets your mind at rest and allows you to feel every bit as good as you have recently felt bad. It should prove a productive week if you stick with what you have started.
LEO (July 24 – August 23)
Are we born to be happy? What, other than deep joy, is the experience for which we were all created? Why else have we all been born capable of enjoying contentment and satisfaction? Why else do we all want to feel good – even if some of us find that only feeling bad makes us feel good! But, then again, we all also have the capacity to become agitated, upset, worried, resentful, fearful or fed up. Perhaps this is our natural state. Life’s great challenges always involve choosing between these two moods and attitudes. You can have one or the other this week. Pick which you want.
VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
Some ideas are right for their time. Others are right for all time. It is often hard to tell whether you are following a fad or starting a revolution. You now have to unpick some stitches that were made not so long ago. Is this because a mistake has been made? Or is it because something that was once very much needed is now needed no longer? And what about the policy you are now trying to implement? How long before that too, proves redundant? Don’t stress yourself with such questions. You are doing what’s right for right now. Regardless of what changes, you will have no real reason to reject this course of action.
LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Sometimes, things work out well even when, really, they ought not to. Convenient coincidences just happen. There are other times when nothing seems right. The simplest arrangements turn out to have hidden complications. You may have both experiences this week. Don’t worry when it all seems wrong; and, when it all seems right, don’t be lulled into a false sense of security. Just trust that you are going through an important process that is bound to have its ups and downs. There is no easier way to proceed than the route that you have already chosen.
SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
What do you value? Where do your priorities lie? You may feel you can give a clear answer to such questions but much depends on your circumstances. We none of us really know ourselves until we get put to the test. Often too, just like anxious students, once we have been tested, we end up fearing that we have failed. We judge ourselves on the basis of insufficient evidence or unrealistic expectation. Sometimes, though, we can do what feels strangely wrong – only to find, after some time has gone by, that it has brought about an ideal result. As you’ll see, this week.
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
Irresistible force. Immovable object. What happens when one meets the other? A lot of energy gets released. Possibly too, some damage gets done. This week’s explosion, though, may not be as intense as it seems at first. And it may also be exactly what you need to break up an uncomfortably stale situation. Just try not to attach yourself too closely to an immutable point of view… or to a furiously committed campaign. Be adaptable. Have faith. Let whatever has to happen happen. When the dust settles, and the argument subsides, you’ll yet find you are in a winning situation.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
Have you ever tried to tow a caravan? Or walk miles with a heavy pack on your back? After a while, you get used to the handicap. When it is finally removed, though, there’s a wonderful sense of relief. Venus is in your sign now. The longer it spends in your sector of the sky, the more you start to see how you have been mulling over too many ifs, buts and maybes. You have been trying to learn from experience and, in the process, you have confused yesterday with tomorrow. Now, you can stop trying to control the future and you can stop worrying about it, too. You’re being very well taken care of.
