Forecasts for week beginning March 13, 2011.

By Jonathan Cainer

Later this month, Jupiter and Saturn will complete one of their rare, once-a-decade oppositions. Already, we are seeing classic symptoms. Regimes collapsing. Old orders retreating. Essential commodity costs rocketing. Think of the sky as a giant guitar. Imagine Saturn up at the top of the fretboard where the tuning peg sits, Jupiter down on the sounding board near the bridge. Think of the tense opposition between them as a tightly wound guitar string. This week, Mercury (the communication planet) comes close to Jupiter, effectively plucking that string, giving us all plenty to talk about!

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
Nature abhors a vacuum – but human nature abhors an overly full container. Whenever, for example, we see a sign saying, “No Vacancies” we turn away. We none of us want to fill up a space that belongs to someone else – or to take up a seat that is spoken for. Might you have been giving out the wrong sort of signal in your life lately? Have you allowed your actions to suggest that a pressing need is being met while secretly you’ve been pining for a change? If you really want something new to enter your world, you must be more candid about what it is that you lack.

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
If only you had a time machine. Think what you could change. Actually, you are a time traveller. It’s just that you’re moving only in one direction at one speed. Or, are you? Every so often as we go forward, we get information that makes us see the past in a new light and effectively rewrites history. Once we see yesterday differently, we find our journey towards tomorrow changes radically. As for the speed that journey takes… well, as we all know, some days and weeks fly by a lot faster than others. This week will fly by, wonderfully. And it will allow you to alter more than you expect.

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
First, you need to fill out a form. That means you need a form to fill out. To get that, you have to go to the special office where they issue forms. The people there won’t let you have a form…unless you first fill out a form! The world is full of people who are stuck in situations like this. Be careful this week. You could get caught up in something similar. You have been persuaded to think in a particular way by what sounds like a logical argument. Yet there isn’t really much logic at all in the plan you’re following. Keep looking out for something that must make more sense… and you’ll find it.

GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
The streets are full of pharmacies, opticians, chiropodists and dentists. You can avail yourself of practically any physical facility wherever you are, whenever you want. But what about your mind? Who’s going to check that that’s working properly, and correct its course if it is straying in a difficult direction? You’ve been thinking about a lot lately, now you need to talk to somebody you can trust. One important conversation this week will clarify much that has been confused, fix much that has been broken, and help you see what’s not broken and thus does not need fixing.

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
Pandora was ever so pleased to get the box. She saw the sign on the lid that said, “Do not open” but then she saw the little brass key and thought, “This is my opportunity.” What pleasure she took in removing the lid. And, in some ways, how appropriate that she did so. For where would all our mythological reference works be without her? And how could we still speak disapprovingly of her to this day if she had not done the deed? Yet you should watch this week, that you don’t do something just because you can do it – or because you just want to know what happens if you try.

LEO (July 24 – August 23)
Is this the beginning? Or is it the end? You can’t ask a question like that unless you also ask, “…of what?” Beware the temptation to oversimplify, over-generalise or over-dramatise as you now set out to understand what’s really happening. There’s a topic that you need to know more about. How can you gain the enlightenment you seek if you imagine that you already know what it is that you are about to be shown? Be willing, this week, to make a discovery. Be open to new information and to a new idea. This is the beginning of something good and the end of something bad.

VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
You are in danger of trying too hard or worrying too much. Nothing, no matter how problematic it may seem or how unwelcome it may appear, needs to be taken quite so seriously. Be a little less respectful of your greatest cause for concern. Treat it in a somewhat more bombastic or cavalier fashion. Laugh in the face of uncertainty. Thumb your nose at fear. Shake your derriere in the direction of pessimism. Defy the world to do its worst. As long as you do your best, this week, you’ll find a solution to every puzzle you face. A belief in your own ability to triumph is all you need.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Let us imagine, for the sake of argument, that your life is a kitchen, the surfaces of which are smooth, clear and clean. Behind those fitted cupboards, though, are little inaccessible areas of dust and grime. Normally, out of sight is out of mind. Now, though, you are changing a cooker. Or installing a fridge. In the process, you are revealing something superficially unattractive and off-putting. It needs dealing with, of course, but not quite as urgently as you might imagine. Your current problem has a purpose, your immediate drama is happening for a reason. Trust this.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
You may not feel that you have much to look forward to this week. You are recovering from a difficult, draining experience that has left you feeling somewhat jaded. If one thing can go wrong, perhaps several can? Perhaps all your great hopes are merely pipe dreams? Perhaps your most exciting visions are simply idle fantasies? Perhaps… Well, perhaps it’s time we stopped using that word “perhaps.” If you really must indulge in conjecture, pursue a more inspiring line of speculation. Maybe the worst is over? Maybe it was just a storm in a teacup? Maybe life, from this point on, is going to get a whole lot easier? Maybe? No, definitely. You’ll see.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
Difficult decisions, difficult questions, difficult challenges are so much more rewarding than easy choices, easy answers and easy options. Or, at least, eventually they are. When everything seems hard, we feel badly done by. None of us wants to make great effort and go through stress and struggle. Within weeks, though, you will be looking back on the situation you now face and feeling not just relaxed but glad of it. The reason why everything seems so tough is because you don’t yet know for sure how a drama will turn out. You have a suspicion, though, that it could all be fine. Trust that.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
When does two plus two seemingly make twenty-two? And when, for that matter, does two take away one appear to leave zero? When there’s a relationship going on. It doesn’t have to be a romantic one. Whenever you are close to someone, anyone, things just don’t add up in the same way that they do when you have to think only of yourself. Be influenced this week, by what someone else thinks and feels, but don’t be overwhelmed by this. Antagonistic alignments to your ruler from Mars and Mercury suggest small sources of stress need not be taken too seriously.

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
Some people deliberately choose to live close to the edge. Others try to keep as far away as possible from points of challenge or conflict. The edge, though, does not occupy a fixed position. It moves. One person’s edge is another person’s middle. Yet, even if you try to stay in the middle at all times, the edge will find a way towards you. Venus and the Sun suggest, that you can spend this week feeling edgy or you can experience the comparative comfort of compromise. Don’t shy away from difficult issues. You can go as close to the edge as you like, providing you put up an inner railing first!
