The central government’s top award for service in the Bali hotel sector has been won this year by C151 Resorts in Seminyak.

The annual award recognises the villa complex as the  “hotel and service excellent” and was part of the Jakarta’s International Business & Company Awards 2011 presented last Friday at the Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel in Kuta.

Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik said in a statement accompanying the event that the award symbolised the dedication and professionalism now evident in the people of Indonesia.

“From the perspective of culture and tourism, this event develops the character and identity of the Indonesian nation and restores the image of Indonesia as a nation that is able to reach heights in regional and international events, as well as increasing the confidence of foreign tourists in visiting Indonesia,” he said.

He added that the award – in the Best Hotel and Service Excellence of the Year category – showed that Indonesia was well placed to compete in the era of global competition, and he hoped it would serve as inspiration to the younger generations.

Attending Friday’s ceremony were Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare Agung Laksono, local officials and executives of the International Achievement Foundation, an NGO.

C151 Resorts opened four years ago and won the top service prize ahead of Bali’s more than 100 star-rated international hotels and over 900 villa operations. The property, consisting of 21 villas in a high-tech format marketed as “Smart Villas,” was previously awarded the Most Innovative Development in Indonesia.

Receiving the award on behalf of C151, General Manager Gede Suarsa said he was honoured. But, he said, “We have to always keep working hard, focus and be innovative.”

C151 founder Hanno Soth said separately that the company would be launching its second resort in Bali this summer, on a cliff-front location at the popular Dreamland surfing area on the southernmost tip of the island.

“It will further raise the bar for luxury accommodations in Asia and boasts Bali most expensive villas fit for the ever-increasing parade of VIP coming to Bali,” he said.
