Forecasts for week beginning May 1, 2011.
By Jonathan Cainer
I am often asked if all the planets ever align in the same place at once. It’s extremely rare. This month, though, the beginning of May brings a conjunction of the Sun and Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Uranus. That’s all but three of the sky’s traditional moving lights in Aries. It’s not a very visible event because the participants are so close to the Sun. They are up when the Sun is up, down when it’s down…. and thus, sunlight drowns them out. But it remains deeply symbolic. If you’ve been praying for change, here it comes!
ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Powerful people carry a burden of responsibility. They have to watch for the consequences of their every deed. Only the helpless and the hopeless can enjoy the luxury of acting entirely on impulse. You are neither helpless nor hopeless. Your current sense of exasperation is a gift. It is providing you with the motivation you need to tackle a tricky task. It’s making you wish that you had more power. The irony is, you do. The moment you stop grasping at straws and start making bold plans, you’ll see this. A vast improvement is attainable in May. All it needs is a small change of attitude.
TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
Peace, love, harmony, understanding. Resentment, recrimination, retribution and revenge. What feels better? Sometimes, our mood can favour one experience so strongly that it all but denies the existence of the other. We get obsessed. We feel we have no option other than to remain in a particular emotional or psychological state. There are times when those intense, negative, sensations are appropriate. There are times too, when we indulge them at our peril. What’s important is fluidity. Your challenge, in May, is to get it just right. Four planets in your sign insist that you will!
GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
Imagine setting off for the holiday of a lifetime in some glorious tropical paradise. Now imagine arriving at the airport, only to find the plane has been delayed. You look at the walls of the waiting area and decide you just cannot stand the colour they have been painted. So you opt to turn round and go home because that decor has upset you. Conjunctions, this month, of Mercury with Mars and Jupiter suggest you are heading in the right direction. There may, though, soon be a big distraction. It will be important in one way yet in another, as trivial as the above example. Remember the bigger picture.
CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
What kind of a month are you expecting? If your hopes are anything other than high, revise them. Think positive. Think big. Well, not that big – I am not promising a total revolution. But you have every reason to expect an encouraging development to arise. There’s now a chance to put right a wrong and restore calm to an area of life that has lately been chaotic. There’s a celestial suggestion of new, deep, genuine inspiration and a chance to be creative in a most constructive fashion. Don’t assume everything has to stay the way it has always been. If you really want change, you can have it.
LEO (July 24 – August 23)
“And they all lived happily ever after.” There. Don’t you feel better for knowing that? An ending is nothing without a beginning – and a beginning from which you can see the only possible ending makes for a very dull story. You need that edge of uncertainty in May. Be glad of it and be glad, too, of all tension and drama. Be glad an issue is unresolved. Here’s your chance to resolve it. Be glad a situation is tricky. The comfort of safety means nothing without the taste of danger. This month is good for romantic and financial opportunity. It’s just not quite so good for peace of mind!
VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
Sometimes, when you are doing a crossword, you solve almost all the clues. You try to write in the last answer but, though, you are sure it is right, it doesn’t fit the letters that you have already filled in. Either the publishers have printed the wrong clue or one of your earlier answers is incorrect. Either way, it’s annoying – but it’s hardly the end of the world. In May, nothing seems to be fitting properly. Your efforts to do the right thing keep having undesirable results. One small but significant, slightly irritating factor has to change. Once you find and fix that, everything will be fine.
LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Nothing is ever perfect. Or, so it seems. Some might argue that, though everything has its drawbacks, those disadvantages are, in their own way, ideal – if only you know how to see them from an enlightened perspective. Let us not dwell on the age-old debate about the perfection of imperfection. For you, it’s irrelevant. Things may or may not be perfect but they are better than they have been and they are about to get better yet. To make the most of May’s small but significant opportunities, focus on what’s feasible, hopeful and attainable rather than resenting what’s inevitable.
SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
Many believe that one day, there will be a golden age when swords are changed into ploughshares and lions lie down with lambs. Are you really ready now, for peace and harmony? Or are you still keen to hang on to a few of your swords just in case you need them? A drama is now developing. You feel half inclined to diffuse the tension and half inclined to add to it. You can do either successfully as long as you do not try to do both things at the same time. Be honest with yourself about what you really want in May. Then you will be in with a much better chance of actually getting it.
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
Are you a human being or, like most folk on this earth, are you just a human, “doing”? Most of us, it seems, are dreadfully goal-oriented. We are forever setting ourselves targets. Objectives to aim for. Criteria to fulfil. If we achieve these, we see ourselves as successful. If we fail, we feel we have failed. We are so wrapped up in all this that we hardly ever stop to ask ourselves, “Is my goal a goal that’s really worth pursuing?” The question in May is not how fast are you going or how smooth is your progress? It is, “Where are you heading?” You’ll make an amazing discovery in May.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
Some people make music. Others paint. Some read, some write, some dance, some design, some just dream. We all, though, have to express creativity. You may live in a world full of concrete and conformity, but you are a creature of nature; an impulsive, spontaneous being that has come to this earth to celebrate, not to feel stressed out. It has been a while since you last felt inspired to smile and relax. Events in May, though, will gently remind you of how good life can be at its best. Dare to do something different and a little magic will find its way into your every encounter.
AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
“What are you dreaming of? Don’t you know how far-fetched that aspiration is? Can’t you tell that you are tilting at windmills and chasing rainbows as they pass through a cloud shaped like pie in the sky? Why don’t you grow up and settle down?” I’ll give you one good reason why. Because, one of these days, a substantial part of one of your brighter dreams is actually going to come true. Will it happen in May? Perhaps not entirely. But you may yet set a process in motion that eventually leads you to live through such a time. Don’t let a passing problem distract you from a great goal.
PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
The crystal ball is cloudy. The Tarot cards are torn. The tea leaves are obscured by too much milk and sugar. The horoscope has become inverted in the telescope. You cannot see the future, no matter how you try. There is something about it that you do not know – and you do not know it for a good reason. You do not need to know it. It is better that you do not know it. Work now, with what you know, not with what you imagine, and not what you fear. You’re heading for something far better than you dare allow yourself to expect. By the end of May, you’ll know the future is going to be just fine.
