Forecasts for week beginning June 18, 2011.
By Jonathan Cainer
Mars and Neptune form a right angle soon. Or at least, they do when viewed through the window of Spaceship Earth. We all live on one big craft, hurtling through the cosmos, spinning like a top. The “window” is our sky and through it, Mars and Neptune appear to be at an angle of 90 degrees apart, even though they’re millions of miles apart. It’s just a two-dimensional optical illusion. I mention this because this Mars/Neptune alignment traditionally favours those who know the difference between how things look and how they truly are.
ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Don’t shake the soda pop in frustration, just because you can’t get the bottle to open. When you finally manage to twist the stopper, it will explode everywhere. Mars now moves into a new sign. This suggests a burning urge to change a situation you are not pleased with. You are right to feel things ought to be different, wrong to fear that you are destined to be thwarted at every turn. Act as if you expect your big break to come fairly easily, reasonably soon. Don’t burn bridges or spoil situations that may soon work to your advantage.
TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
We like what we know. We know what we like. We even quite like what we know we don’t like because at least we know that we don’t like it and so, therefore, we don’t have to think too much about it. What we don’t much like is not knowing whether we will like something or not. You don’t know whether you will like what’s in store this week. Mars is leaving your sign. You’re about to get something that you’ve been striving for, yet which inwardly, secretly, you’re not sure you want. Will you like it? Will you understand what to do? You will if you trust yourself and resolve not to worry.
GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
The ferocious beasts that surround you are not quite paper tigers. They are three-dimensional. They have fur and teeth. They can roar. Still, though, they are not alive. They are stuffed dummies playing recorded growls at random intervals. It’s the same with the obstacles you are up against. They are fairly solid but if you kick them hard enough, they will collapse. Be respectful, by all means of protocol and convention, but don’t be afraid of anyone or anything. As Mars now moves into your sign, power moves into your life, determination moves into your mind, success moves into your life.
CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
There is no need to argue. Mind you, that’s always true. There is never any need for that. People don’t argue because they have to, they argue because they want to. If there is a genuine need to inform someone about the importance of an alternate view, people embark on a process of education and explanation through patient, friendly dialogue. We all know that arguments never convince anyone of anything. Why, then, is someone arguing with you now? What is their true agenda? Don’t get drawn into a fight this week. And don’t draw someone else into one either. Pick only constructive paths.
LEO (July 24 – August 23)
If everything in life were smooth-running, straightforward and sensible, you’d be bored to tears. We all need a little chaos in our world. Without maverick forces, unpredictable situations, precarious arrangements and ridiculous assumptions, we’d have no colour, no spice, no contrast, no interest. Er… have I convinced you yet? Your hunger for order is strong, this week. But soon, one precarious arrangement will stabilise. You’re going to get reassurance about a matter that’s been upsetting you for far too long. With stability here, that should help you feel safe to stir up mayhem elsewhere!
VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
“Pain and foolishness lead to great bliss and complete knowledge, for Eternal Wisdom created nothing under the sun in vain.” The poet Gibran believed this and it is not hard to see how he reached this conclusion. Pain and foolishness are part of the human condition. We cannot help but experience angst from time to time – any more than we can avoid manifesting a degree of silliness. It’s not what we do or even what we go through that counts; it’s what we learn from it all. You’re now in the process of making a truly profound discovery. Trust the universe and trust yourself. All will be fine.
LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
There are chances you can take and opportunities you can explore. Some may lead to a dead end but others have the potential to bring lasting success. For some reason, though, you seem reluctant to go past a particular point. It is as if you want to remain on familiar ground, even though that territory is neither safe nor comfortable. If something is wrong, don’t worry. Just treat it as a reminder to step forward bravely and make something else right. All that matters now is that you ignore your fears and keep on doing your best.
SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
You may not think of yourself as a miracle worker. But in your own sweet way, that’s precisely what you are. There are certain amazing tricks that only you know how to perform. In one key area of life, at least, you have impressive experience and enviable ability. Play to your strength this week. Do what you are good at. Don’t worry about the rest. As long as you now focus intently on what you already know to be true, you’ll soon find out whatever it is that you need to know next. Your instincts are good. Stay sincere and be kind-hearted, even if you feel tempted to attribute blame.
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
Are you pushing your luck? Or is your luck pushing you? It isn’t always easy to tell. When we see an opportunity, we do our best to take it. Then, if it suddenly starts to seem as if nothing is easy any more, we strive to engineer a little extra good fortune. Is that us being greedy? Or is it the universe urging us to try a little harder in pursuit of our goal? You have lately begun to wonder whether you have taken on more than you can cope with. You are about to discover that you have done exactly the right thing. The challenge arising in your life now is one you need to (and thus can easily) rise to!
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
When our gain is someone else’s loss, it is not much of an attainment. The best deals are always those in which everyone comes out a winner. We all know this, but it’s tempting to forget it, especially when we can see a quick and convenient way to improve our own outlook at someone else’s expense. You could, in theory, now benefit from another’s misfortune. To do this, all you would really need to do is keep quiet. Someone else might well be tempted. You’re made of better stuff. You know you’ve simply got to do the right thing. Then the naturally right result will come from this.
AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
Adam and Eve. Samson and Delilah. Lot and his nameless wife, who turned back to look at the burning city and was instantly transformed into a pillar of salt. The book at the root of our cultural heritage is full of errant women and blameless men. It doesn’t seem very fair. There is a “male” side to the story that’s now being told in your life – and a “female” side, too. Don’t assume that the obvious superficial explanation is the right one. To do full justice to what’s in front of you, you simply must think a little more deeply, ask more perceptive questions and employ a greater degree of sensitivity!
PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
People often speak about the inner struggle between the head and the heart. They poetically describe a tug-of-war that can occur between these two distinct centres of our being. They forget that there is a third force. The digestive system! When that wants something badly enough it really doesn’t matter what else we feel or think. Everything has to wait until that basic need has been met. Many forces and factors are now pulling on you. Right now, though, only one is crucial. Honour what’s obvious, what’s simple, what’s basic and what’s essential. Then let your heart win the rest of the battle!
