Forecasts for week beginning June 25, 2011.

By Jonathan Cainer

Mars forms an “alignment of irritation” to Pluto. Remember Pluto? That’s the heavenly body recently demoted by experts. It is, they say, “too small” to be a planet. Oh those scientists. Don’t they know size isn’t everything? Astrologers still feel that Pluto’s influence is as powerful as it ever was. And that’s impressively powerful. If you want to test this, look out for simmering conflicts that neither resolve nor explode. If you’re lucky enough to be simply surrounded by tension rather than directly engaged in it, notice too, how false fears are sending so many people into a spin.

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Do you feel you can see through the emperor’s new clothes? Would you really rather be spared this less than edifying view? You can’t pull the wool back over your eyes once it has been raised! You can’t narrow your mind, once it has been broadened. You can, though, regain your optimism and your faith, no matter how much it has been eroded by the relentless march of mediocrity. We seemingly live in a world full of people who are happy to settle for second best. You, though, deserve the finest that life has to offer. You deserve to be picky this week.

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
“Look well to this day… for yesterday is but a memory and tomorrow is only a vision…” This ancient Indian poem has lost none of its relevance. Strange, when we live in a world where today’s cutting edge insight is tomorrow’s discredited old idea. Sound philosophies, though, never date. Your key to success this week involves dealing well and wisely with issues that are timeless. If you’d been living 5,000 years ago, you’d have come up against something that, in essence, is much the same. What would have been the right way to proceed then is still the right way to go on.

GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
If the lion ever does lie down with the lamb and all the swords are turned into ploughshares, there will be redundancies in the arms industry. And if we start to live in a world without mutual suspicion, what would the lawyers do for a living? Many people have a vested interest in keeping the world a cold, hard place. Still, though, slowly, it seems to be slipping towards change. And your world most certainly has that potential. This week, you can play out the same old dramas and be discouraged by the same old “reasons why not” or you can dare to be different – and succeed.

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
Why do we disagree so often? Why can’t we all just live in harmony? Because we like a good argument! It’s all too tempting to nurse and nurture a little grievance until it grows up to be a fully-fledged feud. Conflicts are engaging and energising. What is there to say, though, about concord? It’s a nice thing to look forward to when you’re in the midst of a battle but the minute you achieve it, it starts to seem dull. If you are truly tired of a problem this week, you can swiftly solve it. Even if someone else wants to keep it alive, you can bring it to an end. But are you enjoying a struggle?

LEO (July 24 – August 23)
For what reason have you been placed on Earth? You have, of course, come here to learn to spell. This world is full of words in which it imperative that the letters are placed in the right order. You have also come to pay tax. The government demands your contribution. Most importantly, you are here to experience stress. Stress is what this world creates for us all. Whenever we reject it in favour of relaxation, we contradict the law of nature! No… not really! But we can be forgiven for thinking it must be this way. Yet soon you will have good reason to feel less cynical.

VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
Clues to the past are all around us. We stand in a field. It’s clear that someone planted it. We stroll down a street. All around are buildings made long ago. We can choose not to notice but we can’t deny that history has happened. Clues to the future are just as easy to spot. Most of us, though, really don’t want to see. I’m not talking here about astrological or clairvoyant clues. I’m talking about common sense progressions. Activity A will lead to activity B. It almost always does! So what are you doing now? What is it likely to lead to? If you like that idea, carry on. If not, stop.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
What gods must we continually appease? Gods of fashion. Goddesses of social acceptability. Angry deities that will wreak havoc if we do not make them regular offerings of dishwasher-loading and account-balancing. How ironic that in our efforts to satisfy the demands of these spirits, we overlook the ones who represent a “higher purpose.” Right now, though, despite all that seems so determined to bring you down to earth and fill your head with trivia, some great cosmic force insists that you reach for a wider, wiser, horizon. Expect a moment of deep inspiration soon.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
“The truth will out.” Inevitably. It will come out in the end, no matter how hard anyone tries to hide it. But if you don’t want it to be the end, when it comes out in the end, do your best to make sure that it is brought out in the beginning. It is essential this week, to have an honest exchange. But how can you do that if there is prejudice or resentment? Put aside what you feel – and what you think. Be open to the idea that, even if all cards are placed on the table, everything can be and will be fine. You don’t have to have full agreement to ease a difficult situation. Partial is fine!

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
In theory, this week, waters of trouble subside and storm clouds of tension roll back to reveal the sunshine of opportunity. In practice? Well, sometimes, when you have had a surprise, you feel just fine at first. It is only after a while that you realise quite what you have been through, then you can end up having a delayed reaction. This may be what you are about to experience. You have been shown a lot about your true feelings and about the real motives of those in your world. It may just take a while to digest all this, but you will soon feel glad of all that has altered.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
What do you do when the wind of change is blowing? Do you batten down the hatch and retreat to a place of shelter? Or do you put on a pair of wings and hope you can be blown to a better place? It depends, on how happy you feel or how frightened you are. If you are truly content, you won’t worry about some new development, you will feel inclined to trust that a benign cosmos has your best interests at heart. If you are worried, you will overreact to every slight variation on the usual theme. Small problems will start to look like big ones. Fly with this week’s wind!

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
Some things are “meant to happen.” And others? Well. If you’ve got a few centuries to spare, we could have a discussion. I doubt, though, if we’d get to a full conclusion, even after all that time. It is odd, isn’t it, how – when things somehow feel “right” – we don’t waste another moment thinking about them. We don’t spend the rest of our lives wondering if maybe they were wrong. Even if they have awkward consequences, we say, “Well they must have happened for a reason” or “I guess it was just the price I had to pay.” This week, what feels right in your life IS right. What doesn’t, isn’t.

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
Rarely have you felt more dynamic and determined. Rarely have you had quite so much to pit yourself against. Sometimes, you see yourself as a helpless victim of circumstance and you throw yourself into this role so wholeheartedly, that you ignore all opportunities for improvement. In your other mode you are a superhero, racing to everyone’s rescue in a one-piece Lycra stretch suit with a cape that wafts in the wind. Then, all obstacles are surmountable. Where’s the middle ground? You can do a lot this week, but remember you can’t do everything.
