Forecasts for week beginning, August 13, 2011.

By Jonathan Cainer

Our week begins with a Full Moon and goes on to bring an invisible conjunction of Venus and Mercury. There’s a whole story in that. The Full Moon always heralds excitement, danger, trouble, passion and potentially, great delight. Always, though, there’s an edge of conflict. A conjunction of Venus and Mercury implies a soothing, healing, peaceful, prosperous development. The fact that it is invisible (too close to the Sun to be seen) speaks of a highly helpful development taking place in the background, even while a drama takes centre stage.

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
What is it that you can’t afford? What do you fear you will never experience or enjoy? How can you be so sure? Your heart is a magnet. If you charge it up enough with ‘the energy of desire’, it can draw almost anything to it. But if that desire is not tempered by wisdom, the result will be less than ideal. You don’t want to get what you want only to discover that you don’t really want it! This week’s helpful link from Mars to Jupiter suggests, if only you understand why you need what you need, somehow, slowly, magically, you will see a way to get it.

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
Look at what you’ve been doing lately, look at how hard you have been working, how diligently you have been carrying out your duties and how self-sacrificingly you have been responding to requests. No wonder you feel as though there is so little of you left. Is this right? Is it necessary? Might you be doing too much because somewhere within you feel responsible for a problem? What do you owe and to whom do you owe it? And, most crucially, what do you owe to yourself? It’s time, this week, to experience a greater sense of entitlement and a lesser sense of obligation.

GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
Shall we change the subject? Shall we talk about something else? Shall we set our stopwatch while we attempt this? Shall we look to see how long it takes before you steer the conversation back to the current hot topic? You’ve got a one-track mind at the moment. There’s a question you need answering, a problem you are eager to solve. You find a subject difficult to contemplate, but even more difficult to ignore. It can’t be constructive to be obsessive. Make sure your thoughts and deeds are positive. Go beyond your fear of failure and you will find the way to success.

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
Mars is passing through your sign, allowing you to begin a whole new chapter in the story of your life. You can even decide that this is the kind of novel where the chapters do not follow sequentially. You can shift the scene and involve new characters in situations previously undreamed of – if you want to. Well, in theory you can anyway. In practice, probably, things will carry on much as they were but the pace of life will speed up, the sense of adventure will intensify and a feeling of real power will begin to excite you. You’ve got energy, motivation and opportunity now.

LEO (July 24 – August 23)
Some people say it’s money that makes the world go round. Others say that it is love. Some philosophers say we are all only here because we choose to believe we are. They argue that if we were to stop believing – we would no longer be here. They also say that money and love are both just the by-product of a belief system. What or who do you believe in? You may find, this week, that ideas and feelings change dramatically as new developments challenge old preconceptions. You will also discover that far more is possible than you might once have dared to believe.

VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
The bad news? It’s getting hot in this kitchen. The good news? You are cooking up a storm. And if you can’t stand the heat? Well, it’s too late to get out. Your only option is to go on. You would like life to be more simple, straightforward and predictable, or so you think. Actually, if it were, you would be bored. But you would like your life to be less chaotic, anarchic and insecure. That wish will be granted soon. Probably not, though, in quite the way you think. Be suspicious of your certainties. This week, the plans you are not so sure of are likely to bring best results.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Someone else is driving and they won’t give you the wheel. Whether you accept or object, there is little you can do but wait. Either you are going to end up at a satisfactory destination or the journey is going to come to an unscheduled stop. Then, there will be an opportunity to shift the balance of power. Meanwhile, think about the things you will do once you get the freedom to make your own decision. Develop a plan. Define and refine a strategy. Though you may experience a state of frustration for a little longer, your time will come sooner than you think.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
People so thoroughly enjoy expressing their opinions they hardly care whether these are based on supposition. Some even prefer speculative conversations because these provide a greater opportunity to theorise. Why hold a brief exchange of accurate information when you can bluff? Unless, of course, you happen to be a Scorpio, in which case all you ever want to know is the score. The Full Moon in the part of your chart that governs emotional involvement says: this week, it’s time to stop listening to what someone is saying and start watching what they’re doing.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
Today is the first day of the rest of your life. And tomorrow? That’s the first day of the rest of the rest of your life. We get many chances to begin all over again. Do we take them every time? On the contrary. We take them for granted every time. The universe does not care. It regularly rolls out a brand-new day regardless of whether we deserve it or not. Today will always be the first day of the rest of your life. The statement will remain true every day from now till… the end of your life. But some things really can’t wait that long. This week, some much-needed changes can begin.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
Some people toss coins. Others spin bottles. When we need to make a decision, we all have our own preferred system of divination. Sometimes, we will ask for definitive guidance. We will say, ‘Heads I go, tails I stay.’ Then, if we do not like what the coin has told us, we will throw it again. We may go for the best of three or we may decide that our reaction has helped to clarify our true feeling. Always, inwardly, we know what’s what – even if our thoughts seem fuzzy. Trust your deepest instinct this week. The cosmos is putting you in close touch with your inner radar.

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
If you are doing your best, what else can you do? And if you are not? Well, how can you be so sure that you are not doing your best? Do you think that your best must automatically involve struggle and strife? Does the definition of ‘best’ inevitably involve sacrifice? Sometimes the very best thing you can do is nothing – or next to nothing. A policy of watch and wait can be the wisest of all options. As the Full Moon now obliges you to review old allegiances and alliances, it is becoming clear that you are doing your best now and it is about to pay off.

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
Are we not all aliens? Do we not all mysteriously appear on earth one day only to leave suddenly, some while after? If we do not know where we have come from, how can we be clear about where we are? We take life too seriously. We let stuff get us down when we really ought to rise above it. Here comes your chance to fulfil a desire and satisfy a need. Enjoy your advantage by all means but don’t become too elated lest the next time things aren’t going quite so much your way you swing to the other extreme. Stay calm, be wise and prepare to shed light on a baffling mystery.
