Forecasts for week beginning August 20, 2011.
By Jonathan Cainer
Mercury, this week comes to the end of its retrograde phase. Communication problems will improve. Transport difficulties will ease up. Financial concerns, at least on the global stock market, should lift and lighten. Soon after that, Jupiter starts moving apparently backwards. The consequences of this influence tend to be less obvious. People generally, though, find their luck subtly and slowly changes. So if it’s been bad, it gets a bit better. And if it’s good… well, it won’t turn bad… but you’d best not be relying on that and that alone.
ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Be glad of what you have not got. You do not want it, no matter what you may think! There is a reason why something is proving so elusive. You are not yet as ready as you think to bring about the change you hanker for. Or, perhaps, you are ready but another person is not. This individual is important to you. It is in your best interest to do what is in their best interest. Let a little more time pass and you will see why the time is not yet right. You will also see why another move IS possible and why this one has positive potential for immediate improvement.
TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
Life, here on Earth, is full of paradox. We are all endlessly trying to rise to impossible challenges. We strive continually to see logic in nonsense. This is a crazy place and the maddest people of all are the ones who think themselves sane. No wonder there are ridiculous rules we all must abide by. This week, regardless of how silly they may be, you are obliged to honour these. But it is possible to manipulate a system to your own advantage. Do what you know will work and don’t worry about why it works or whether or not it really ought to work!
GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
You are not right about everything all the time: just about most things most of the time. Every so often you make a mistake – albeit a small one, easily rectified. This ability for fallibility is your gift from a kindly cosmos; bestowed upon you for the express purpose of ensuring that others do not dismiss you as a smart alec. But, though, every so often you are bound to make an error, you are not making one now. Have faith in all you are doing even if, so far, not much of it seems to be working. If you trust your heart you simply have to end up with what you need.
CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
If, today, you do 20 sit-ups, you will make no difference to the shape of your body. If you do them again tomorrow there will still be no change. But continue every day for the next 30 days and you will see an impressive alteration. I am not trying to imply that you are in need of exercise. I am merely pointing out that no matter how much we yearn for instant transformation, the only real way to attain it involves effort and commitment. We are surrounded by shining examples of what can be accomplished with dedication. You want a lot. You can have most of it. But not all this week!
LEO (July 24 – August 23)
We are forever being urged to ‘have faith’. But faith often seems to be a commodity in short supply. People hoard it, for fear there may be a nationwide shortage. So, by the time the likes of you and I come looking, there is none left. Ironically, though, this does no good. For faith, like yoghurt, has a short shelf-life. If you don’t use it up quickly, it goes off. Happily, faith is also a little like trouble. The more you have, the more you attract towards yourself. If you can find just a tiny bit of faith this week, you’ll have a bucketful soon enough. And all of it will prove justified.
VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
Watch for quicksand. Once you put your foot in it, you’ll find it hard to pull it out again. Before you know it, you’ll be waist deep. The more you wriggle, the worse it will get. How can you avoid such a fate? Begin by checking that you are not already stuck. Is there a grudge you can’t stop nursing, a resentment you can’t ignore, a fear you feel intimidated by, a complaint you are determined to make? Disentangle yourself from negative emotion. Resist the urge to get further into something you need to let go of. Then, only the right things will happen this week.
LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Times have changed. One day they will change again. But you cannot live in the past or the future. The principles by which you are leading your life now are appropriate to the situation you are in. Do not judge them by any other criteria. You are doing what it is right to do, right now. That is all you need to know. As and when new factors arise, you can respond to them. But in the land of hypothesis and speculation there is never anything substantial to eat. And you are hungry. You must go now towards the only actual source of sustenance you can see.
SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
Where do you belong? And with whom? This is a question we all have to ask from time to time because the answer does not remain entirely constant. Even people in long-lasting relationships, with the most loyal disposition, still find their involvements and allegiances change over time. This week, a commitment comes under question. It is time to renege or renew. For too long, you have been treading water, keeping options open and going through the motions. You will feel much better once you reach your big decision – and you’ll become financially better off too.
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
What’s reasonable? What’s unreasonable? You think you know? Since the dawn of time, judges, courts, religious leaders and philosophers have tried to prove their capacity for sagacity. Which is not, of course, a particularly reasonable thing to do! But then we do not live in a reasonable world. Which brings us neatly on to the big question. Given the awkwardness of your situation, can it really be reasonable for you to be reasonable? Someone is trying to make you feel that something most unreasonable is reasonable. That’s unacceptable. Don’t excuse it this week!
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
‘Yes’ is a good word. ‘No’ has all kinds of negative overtones. It gives the wrong impression. It encourages a pessimistic perception. In today’s modern ‘can-do’ society there is surely no further place for it. Let’s get it banned. We can do without it. Can’t we? Er, actually, we can’t. There are times when it is the only appropriate response. Whether we are saying it or having it said to us. We should be grateful for this short, simple way to draw a line and close a door. Wherever you encounter an obstacle this week, you are being rewarded, not punished.
AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
We cannot ignore sadness. Nor, though, can we make it the only thing we focus on. If we are to make a constructive contribution to someone’s struggle, we must have a positive perspective. We owe it to those who have become pessimistic to remind them of all that deserves hope. We may want them to return the favour one day. There’s no such thing as an unhappy healer. If you’re not aware of something good, you can’t do good. And if you are conscious of life’s most positive forces? You can work miracles – as you’ll see this week.
PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
I had best be careful what I say. You are in the mood to find fault. Don’t be in too much of a hurry to snap out of it. It may not be making you overly popular but it is enabling you to identify some unacceptable situations. They have been wrong for a while but you have chosen to ignore them. Now, as you see the light, you can do what has been needed. And really, you need to be in a slightly grumpy frame of mind in order to make that possible! Once you have done what you have to, you will start to feel far better and your situation will start to improve dramatically.
