Forecasts for week beginning Saturday, September 3, 2011.
By Jonathan Cainer
As September goes slowly by we get ever closer to a conjunction of Venus and Saturn. It takes place in the part of the sky that astrologers (though not necessarily all astronomers) call Libra. To us, it symbolises the potential for positive emotional unions and constructive business agreements. It speaks of deals being done and of promises being made (and kept). No matter what sign you are, if you’re hoping to negotiate an arrangement, a commitment or a strong plan for the future, the climate is auspicious.
ARIES (Mar 21 – Apr 20)
You may not hit the ground running in September but you should certainly manage to hit the bed snoozing. Uranus continues its retrograde ramble through Aries. It is clearly in no hurry to get anywhere. Adopt a similar stance. Take your time. Consider your options. Resist pressure to make long-term commitments. You don’t yet know the half of what’s possible. That’s why it is so vital not to sell yourself short. No matter who claims to need what from you urgently, they can wait. Don’t make any old plan, make the right choice for the right reason. And get some rest.
TAURUS (Apr 21 – May 21)
They say leopards can’t change their spots. But in these days of cosmetic surgery this no longer sounds like a credible claim. They may not even require superficial adjustment to their appearance. They can use neuro-linguistic programming to subdue their inner-leopard. Er, can’t they? Where, in your world now, is therapy of some kind appropriate for someone? Remember the old joke; ‘How many psychotherapists does it take to change a light bulb?’ ‘Only one, but the light bulb has to want to change.’ Things really CAN change in September, if that’s what you want.
GEMINI (May 22 – Jun 22)
For much of September you may have to live with a situation that isn’t moving as fast as you might wish. You may also have to deal with developments that have more to do with the past than the future – the consequences of old decisions. ‘If only you had known then what you now know.’ Don’t waste time regretting wasted time! It’s never too late – and if you look at what could lie ahead, you will see every way to profit from an experience and right a serious wrong in the process. The past is a closed book. You can yet make the story of tomorrow, though, a tale of true triumph.
CANCER (Jun 23 – Jul 23)
What about the weather? How much longer do you think it will carry on like this? Never mind what’s happening in your heart. Never mind what drama is in your life… let’s just talk trivia instead. That’s easier. Isn’t it? It may often seem to be. But we have to look at our challenges, answer our questions and face our facts. You are now dealing with a situation that seems serious. You may have to be brave – but if you are fair, if you have faith and if you don’t just ignore what needs to be discussed and talk about the weather instead, everything will have a happy (and easy) outcome… eventually.
LEO (Jul 24 – Aug 23)
It’s funny how you can know someone for years, and then suddenly realise that there is much about them that is a mystery to you. Even our closest companions have aspects to their character that it is easy for us to overlook or forget. You are now seeing a familiar subject in a fresh light. This is causing you to process some unfamiliar thoughts and ideas. An agreement needs to be renegotiated. An assumption must be questioned. You’re no longer so sure, in September, that you can take anyone or anything for granted. But that doesn’t mean you’re in danger of loss.
VIRGO (Aug 24 – Sep 23)
Can mind-readers really tell what other people are thinking? Of course not. No matter how perceptive they may be, they are at a disadvantage, because most people, most of the time, are in ‘two minds’. Our attitudes alter according to our circumstances. We imagine we want something, but when push comes to shove – we often discover that we actually want another. Don’t prejudge a certain person’s opinion in September. Wait to see what they actually say and do. Be open-minded too, about what’s in your own mind and heart. You could yet be surprised!
LIBRA (Sep 24 – Oct 23)
The Pyramids, today, are as popular as they ever were. Stonehenge still gets plenty of visitors. Uluru has also stood the test of time. By and large, though, things come in and out of fashion. Either they don’t last or they do – but enthusiasm for them wanes. That’s natural and inevitable. Now, if you don’t mind me asking, as we move into September and closer to your birthday, what in your life belongs to a bygone age? In what way might you be trying to keep a dinosaur alive? An era is over. A brave new world now needs to be discovered. Don’t cling to the past.
SCORPIO (Oct 24 – Nov 22)
Not only is it unwise to judge a book by its cover, it is advisable to stick with it for the first few chapters. Tolkien’s Lord Of The Rings, for example, gets off to a notoriously slow start – as does Fitzgerald’s, The Great Gatsby. Both, though, provide a ripping read if only you stick with them. September, may take a while before it begins to supply as much encouragement as you might hope for. This month’s developments though, really do tell a new story. Don’t mistake slow change for no change. Appearances can be deceptive and you’ll soon see something pleasing unfold.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov 23 – Dec 21)
‘When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.’ This quote comes from my favourite writer, Kahlil Gibran, but the secret link between these apparent opposites has fascinated many poets. I mention it now because it’s too easy to take a superficial view of a deep situation. You must go beyond the obvious in September – if you want to make true progress
CAPRICORN (Dec 22 – Jan 20)
What about the house you used to live in? Or the car you used to drive? Once, it was your pride and joy. There was no question of it belonging to anyone else. And now? Someone else has that pleasure. Your sense of ownership is directed elsewhere. There are many things in life that we think of as permanent even though, ultimately, they are only temporary. That’s all the more reason to cherish them while we have them, but to retain an objective sense of perspective, too. Remember, in September that the only thing you need to hang on to is your sense of perspective.
AQUARIUS (Jan 21 – Feb 19)
Some astrologers say it is unfortunate to have a retrograde ruler. I beg to differ. It all depends on what the ruling planet happens to be doing whilst it is retrograde. Your ruler, Uranus now moves apparently backwards through the sky, forming a series of alignments that can liberate you from a situation you have become uncomfortably stuck within. In September, you are retracing your steps, psychologically if not physically. You are revisiting a scenario you left some while ago. You have mixed memories but this time around things are due to be better.
PISCES (Feb 20 – Mar 20)
Want to know a secret? Just ask. In fact, don’t feel obliged to articulate your inquiry. Just look. Observe the actions of a particular person. Catch their eye if you can. If you can’t, ask yourself why they won’t look at you. Remember those ‘X-ray specs’ they used to advertise in kids comics. In September, you have the psychological equivalent thereof. Yours, though, really work! They don’t show bones, they show hidden agendas. You can see into hearts, souls and, to a lesser extent minds. Be sensitive to how much you say about this. Don’t be too sensitive to how it makes you feel!
