“Actually, we have already obtained five CCTV units which will be used for monitoring by the police headquarters. Only two units have been installed so far, but the others will be installed later,” he said.

Putra said the precise location of the two functioning units would not be disclosed.

“The public doesn’t need to know exactly where they are. It’s a secret. What is clear, however, is that the CCTV cameras are in the Kuta and Nusa Dua areas, with a radius of significant monitoring so that if any criminal or suspicious activity occurs in those two regions it will be easily monitored police,” he said.

He added that the three additional cameras were to be installed in Ubud, Besakih Temple and Batukaru, and that there were also plans to install a camera at Tanah Lot.

According to Putra the cameras will be fully operational from October 9, following a survey of Bali to establish suitable locations. He said footage from the cameras would be fed to national police headquarters in Jakarta as well as local police stations.
