Badung Hospital Project Moves Ahead

A delayed project to build a new regional hospital in Badung regency is finally going ahead, officials have announced.

Badung regent A.A. Gde Agung said this week that the regency government had forced the contractor, Cipta Karya, to press ahead with the project to ensure completion within three years.

“The hospital must be ready by 2015 to provide residents with quality healthcare services,” he said.

A site for the proposed hospital has been provided in Kapal village, and work was intended to proceed with seven stages of construction. However, frustrated with the lack of progress Agung has ordered Cipta Karya to reduce the stages to just three.

The total cost of the project is expected to reach Rp600 billion, with a further Rp280 billion set aside from the regency budget for medical equipment. The budget for staffing has yet to be set.
