Forecasts for week beginning July 14, 2012

By Jonathan Cainer

Mercury is about to begin one of its frequent phases of retrograde motion. Other astrologers suggest that plans should not be made and promises should never be made while the planet of communication is apparently reversing. I find it only ever the first ‘stationary point’ that coincides with delay and impediment in commerce, negotiation and transportation. We’re there, now so whatever hasn’t gone wrong already probably won’t do! Far more exciting is the Dark of the Moon we enter later this week. That will bring mystical revelations to many… and open portals of possibility that once seemed forever barred!

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Sometimes, it can seem as if life is just a series of circles that we keep going around and around. Things look as if they are going to change in some new and wonderful way, then suddenly we realise that they just seem to be changing in the same old way that they did the last time we came up against a similar set of circumstances. The good news now is that you are not stuck on a wheel that never ends. The even better news is that you will soon face new challenges that, at first, you don’t know how to deal with. But you will soon find a way!

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
Difficult, demanding, circumstances have left you feeling jaded and tired. Actually, your sense of cynicism is directly linked to the exhaustion that you are feeling. As you slowly regain your energy, the flame of hope in your heart will be rekindled. You will start to look more positively on some new situations that you face and feel happier about some of the more challenging individuals in your world. Those people aren’t so bad and those problems aren’t so big. You just need to approach them in the right spirit.

GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
If there aren’t enough hours in the day, then there probably aren’t enough days in the year and by logical extension, there aren’t enough years. But if our time on earth really is too short, that is all the more reason to ease up and start enjoying it all. Mercury, as it now turns retrograde, is urging you to look at what lies behind the pressure? Treat yourself to an important gift this week – one that is neither too expensive, nor too indulgent. Allow yourself what you deserve and what will yet make all the difference – a break!

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
When something makes us feel sad, we really ought to feel glad. Sources of sorrow invariably lead to wise choices that can only bring us greater strength and happiness. Unless, that is, they are allowed to turn into sources of resentments. It is only when we feel bitter that we begin to make mistakes. It is essential that you extend kind thoughts and feelings towards all the people and situations that may have contributed towards a sense of discomfort and disappointment. The more you do that, the happier you will be.

LEO (July 24 – August 23)
Imagine that you are trying to mend a broken piece of equipment. You urgently need a hammer but all you have is a screwdriver. As you cannot afford to purchase the required tool, you go off in search of someone who is willing to swap your screwdriver for a hammer. This becomes a difficult mission. It takes much time and energy. By the time you have completed it and returned to your task with fresh eyes, you realise that you didn’t need a hammer at all. You just needed to use the screwdriver in a different way!

VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
Mercury, the ruler of your sign, is once more retracing its steps through the zodiac. That is a relatively common occurrence. It happens several times a year and should not be considered a problem. It represents an opportunity, a chance to reopen a closed casebook and reconsider an old decision. The past has something to teach you about the future. If you can be open-minded enough to learn that lesson properly, you can move your life forward in a most constructive and rewarding way. But you may first have to swallow a little pride.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Think of all the effort it takes for a plant to produce a flower. All that sprouting, burrowing and growing. Weeks, months, even years must pass before that wonderful moment when something so magical takes place. And how long does that blossom last? Is it really worth so much energy? Why, of course, it is, especially when that plant has the capacity to keep on blooming over and over again. You keep wondering whether you have been pursuing a worthwhile investment. Here comes proof positive that indeed you have.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
If you have got too much on your plate, perhaps you need to get a bigger plate! But even then, how are you going to digest it? It may be time to take the seemingly drastic step of returning your plate to the servery and asking if some of its contents can be removed. Failing that, you must consider yourself entitled to push some items to the side of the plate and leave them untouched. If you feel somehow obliged to do everything that is expected of you this week, you may blow a gasket. Instead, you need to draw a line.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
‘Needs must when the Devil drives.’ That is what people say when they are being taken slightly too close to the end of their tether and are responding to this pressure by becoming inventive. They use another saying too. ‘Necessity is the mother of invention.’ I personally prefer this maxim because it doesn’t make reference to a negative entity. You really should not look on a current challenge as a problem or a punishment. It is simply an opportunity for you to do something that really you have needed to do for a long time.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
As Mercury now retraces its steps through the zodiac, it repeats a harmonious alignment to Saturn that it first formed earlier this month. That is a nice clear cosmic indication of strong celestial assistance. You are being given a second chance to understand a matter that has previously mystified you. Don’t just assume that because you have failed to understand something so far, it will never make sense to you. Think about it again. Ask more questions. You are only one ‘eureka’ moment away from a brilliant decision.

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
If I use short words as I write this piece for you, you may be able to read it more quickly. That will take up less of your time and I can see that you now feel a strong need to be swift. There are so many things that you need to deal with. How can you hope to attend to them all? Here is an idea. Don’t make a ‘to-do’ list. Make a ‘to-don’t’ list. Draw some lines. Though Mars is pushing you, Jupiter is protecting you. Your luck is much better than you think. Help it to help you. Allow yourself a chance to relax and stop worrying.

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
Medical practitioners have a saying. ‘Diagnosis is half the cure.’ This is a very true statement and it isn’t just relevant in the realm of physical well-being. If you really understand what is wrong with any situation, you slowly and positively set about putting it right. But your appraisal needs to be careful and accurate. You don’t want to end up applying an inappropriate solution. Events this week will shed helpful light on the true nature of an old problem. Potentially, that represents the most wonderful news for you.
