Expressing Gratitude for Intelligent through Celebration of Tumpek Landep
Tumpek Landep is the day dedicated to ask for safety to the God in the form of God of Weapon (Pasupati).
Tumpek Landep is celebrated on Saturday of Landep, every six months.
Landep means sharp. Tumpek Landep is the Hindus grateful expression especially in Bali toward Gods who descents to the world and gives intelligence to humans. The sharpness should be the sharp weapons such as keris, spear, and sword.
On the other hand, the metal material, such as iron, silver, and bronze, already help and ease human activity on a daily routine.
Tumpek Landep is the holy days sequence and its order is Galungan, Kuningan, and Siwaratri.
The celebration of Tumpek Landep could be done at home and temple by gathering sacred weapons or objects made of metal from morning to evening.
The ceremony is continuously done generation through generation until now, in which at present not only weapons are made of metal, other tools are also made of metal such as motorcycle, car, household equipment etc. The objects will be blessed and a special ornament made of young coconut leaf, which is called tamian, is attached to it.
