Year of the “Gui Si Ying “- Water Snake 2013

The Year 2013 as per the Chinese Almanac and the Science of Feng Shui is known as “The Year of the Yin Water Snake – GUI SI YING” and the Chinese New year falls on the 10th of February in the Year 2013.

The year luck when analyzed using the advance school of Fengshui astrology and element analysis known as “ba-zi” (Phat chee) reveals that the elements in clash in the year 2013 are Water and Fire. According to the cycle of birth and destruction, which governs the inter-relationship between the elements, water is the destroyer of fire and so they are on the destructive cycle and have conflict relationship. This postulates a year will not be very peaceful with more international conflicts and struggles coming up. The clash of elements also indicates sever dry climatic conditions with solar flares and water borne virus. The climatic changes could trigger of severe respiratory problems, skin and intestinal ailments for many and also outbreak of sever flu.

In Feng Shui analysis, Yin water is the most yin element hence from outside it may appear that such an element could be quite gentle, calm, humble, flexible and tolerant however Yin water also has another connotation of deception, secretive and capable of penetration anywhere. Yet from the Feng Shui perspective one can transform the energies if we can remain positive, innovative and be open to reforms.

The snake is a long reptile and moves zigzag and slithers and in the modern times you can compare this movement with a train. In the science of Feng Shui the Snake is also referred to as a “Traveling Star” and in the year 2013 the water element combining with the year animal snake relates to communication and transport. Hence one can expect a lot of travel in the year 2013 for many however the flip side is that it indicates a strong possibility of setbacks pertaining to transportation like rail and air.

The Animal Sign Snake relates to Fire element in the Chinese Zodiac. The Element Fire represents the entertainment, movie and restaurants business. A boom time for such industries with romance and prosperity is a strong possibility hence entertainment industry like movies, music will grow and more innovations like the “Gangnam Style” could be anticipated. We need to keep in mind that although it’s a favorable year there will be severe competition and would call for continuous innovation to stay on the top.

Based on Feng Shui interaction of elements, each of the Industry is categorized on the basis of elements. The General analysis indicates that the industries that will perform well in the year of the Yin Water Snake will be industries relating to Earth and wood elements. Earth industry relates to Mining, real estate, property development and insurance. Wood industry pertains to textiles, media, publications and ecology. Water and Metal industries will do well too. Metal industries relate to banking, machinery, engineering, computer, and high tech industries will be benefited and Water Industry signifies communication, transport and travel.

The “Mantra” for the Year 2013 is “Do not fight the tides but learn to Surf “. Remain calm, plan ahead and avoid any knee jerk reaction due to bad planning. Keeping a low profile and avoiding drastic changes in your schedule would help.
