Rotating Blackouts Blackout Bali

Blackouts occurred in Bali April 7-12  due to routine maintenance of Gas Power (power plant) which has a capacity of 130 megawatts. These black out originated from the Gilimanuk power plant.

For the Gilimanuk power plant just outside of Bali’s electrical system itis not the first time. The same thing happened in March and Apri of 2012.

Scheduled maintenance was to be carried out earlier this year, but because of the schedule of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Bali and international activities, the plan was postponed.

And with the APEC summit right around the corner many feel it is imperative that the security of the islands electrical supply be closely monitored.

Those in charge remain hopeful that the Gilimanuk power plants discharge from Bali electricity system does not interfere with electrical service on the island.

Major hotels in Bali have been asked to use genorators during the maintanence so as not to affect the electricity supply.
