President is Scheduled to Open the Bali Arts Festival
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to open the 35th Annual Bali Arts Festival (PKB) on June 15, 2013 in Denpasar.
“The President will open the PKB at Taman Budaya Denpasar at 20:00pm, the President will release the parade in front of Monument Perjuangan Rakyat Bali, Bajra Sandhi,” said Head of Culture of Bali Ketut Suastika.
Suastika says the 35th PKB will be held on June 15-July 13, 2013, to coincide with the school holidays. Suastika is hopeful there will be no change to the schedule of the PKB due to the agenda of the President, as has happened in previous years.
Suastika said the theme of the parade and opening ceremony will be “Taksu- Generating Creative Power and Identity”.
“Our theme is deliberately adopted to encourage the artists or those who have the expertise to further develop the art of creativity, but it can not be separated from the character of individual Balinese,” he said. The PKB parade, he explained, displays art from other parts of the country, such as Papua and Sumenep. This is in line with the PKB mission to strengthen and unify all components of the nation.
“In addtion to showcasing artists from districts/cities in Bali, in the parade will also present art attractions from other parts of the country from the intersection Puputan Renon Street-Pemuda Street to the Bank Pembangunan Daerah Bali Office,” said Suastika.Filed under: Headlines
