Forecasts for week beginning Saturday, June 15, 2013.

By Jonathan Cainer

Earlier this month, if you looked where the Sun had just set, you’d have seen Jupiter glowing on the horizon with Venus above it. Venus is still shining at sunset but now Jupiter has moved so much closer to the Sun that you can’t see it any more by day or night. The ancients insisted that the annual conjunction of the Sun and Jupiter was a most fortuitous astrological event, even if it was invariably invisible! Hopefully, this week, we’ll see how right they were. Wherever anything truly deserves to go well, there’s a high chance that it will!

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Season after season, folk follow the progress of their favourite sporting stars. The names and activities differ. The devotion and dedication is universal. It seems that loyalty is hard-wired into our psyche. It does not matter who we support, what matters is that we support someone – or something. A person, a team, a cause. We all need someone to cheer for (which is healthy) and something or someone to disapprove or fight against. But success, for you this week, involves going beyond a pet hate or prejudice.

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
We live in a high-tech, turned on, networked world. We are bombarded with so much communication that we can hardly avoid knowing what’s ‘current and popular’ even if we try to ignore everything. Yet, for all the links that potentially tie us to millions of others, there are so many ways in which we can feel alone, unhappy or as if our lives lack purpose. What makes this week especially joyous is its potential to help you develop a much clearer sense of direction and involvement in a situation that feels very right.

GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
There are times when it seems as if the harder we try to do something simple, the more complicated life gets. Yet when we find the courage to tackle a convoluted matter, we suddenly see it is essentially straightforward. We shouldn’t ever do something just because it’s easy. Nor should we be discouraged just because something looks difficult. If something that ought to be a breeze is turning into a gale, it may be time to take shelter. But first, try letting that wind get into your sails. You could rise surprisingly high.

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
‘At the centre of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.’ So said the ancient spiritual teacher Lao Tzu. At the essence of your current dilemma in life is a need to better understand yourself so you can cope more easily with a challenge and make more of an opportunity. That’s really the only guidance you are looking for in this forecast. Take Lao Tzu’s advice. Resolve to trust what’s already within you and you can truly let your light shine this week.

LEO (July 24 – August 23)
We can all agree with the assertion that ‘wasabi is hot’. But only when we inadvertently eat more than we were expecting to swallow do we truly understand the full implication of that comment. There’s a big difference between knowledge learned in books and knowledge gained from experience. Now, there’s something you are starting to ‘really know’. It may take time to digest the enormity of a discovery but once you reconcile yourself to the contrast between theory and practice, you’ll see much to inspire you this week.

VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
It seems you keep finding yourself with battles to fight, points to prove and agendas to carry out. All, one way or another, are based on the theme of power. Power taken, power given, power wanted, power offered. If you want to be sure of making the right choices – focus on a different kind of power entirely. Healing power. The power of kindness. The power that comes from giving up power. The power to let someone else win a petty battle while you focus on a far more important campaign. Be big this week.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Daily life is starting to make huge demands on your patience, your emotional resilience and your bank account. You feel as if you are running out of the strength and energy that you need to cope with a stressful situation. And as you find out more about what’s really going on in your world, you are no longer so sure about who to believe. Yet despite the uncertainty, the trouble you face is very temporary. Somehow, this week, a rather wonderful, lasting change for the better will begin to come about.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
Some people love a good debate. Tell them the sky is blue and they’ll find some way to argue that it is devoid of colour and merely gives the impression of a blue tint. If, though, you make the same claim to them, they will reply that if it looks blue, it is blue and you are merely splitting hairs. Now I am not suggesting that anyone you know has a tendency to be so contrary. Nor would I dream of implying that at times, you can be tricky yourself. But, this week, if you walk away from a row, you can walk towards a great opportunity.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
A famous still from a silent movie features the great comedian Harold Lloyd, dangling from the hands of a clock, high on the roof of a building. The film is hilarious and that particular incident with the timepiece is iconic. Aren’t we all, to some extent, constantly battling against the inexorable passage of time? There is only one sure way to deal with stress… and that’s to relax. This week, as you let go of a source of concern and annoyance, you’ll start to laugh at what once worried you so much. And much will then improve.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
Once a bridge has been put across a river, it’s easy to get to the other side. Prior to that, it’s difficult. You need a boat. Or at least a raft. Or you would have to swim. Even if you are trying to build a bridge, you can expect a long drawn-out process. It is as if you are now being told all about a result that may be attainable but someone is forgetting to mention the time, effort and energy that success will require. Is this because they want this result more than you do? By all means be generous this week but be realistic too!

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
Despite the fact that you are right about most things, most of the time, others do not always agree. Usually, of course, this is because they are just plain wrong. Perhaps this is the case now. But perhaps not. To be safe, maybe you should consider the other side of a certain story. There may be something you have overlooked. It is possible that either someone is now being unreasonable and foolishly argumentative – or they have a point you sorely need to be aware of. An ability to listen, this week, could prove most rewarding.

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
It’s not so much that you want to pour a quart into a pint pot, more that you want to extract from the pot more than it actually contains. Can that be done? Only if the content is a concentrate. If, somehow, you can make more of it just by adding something that is easily obtained, that tall order soon shrinks. Don’t shy away from a challenge. Don’t hide your head in the sand and pretend that you can’t see what you can see… but you don’t want to look at. Recognise your responsibility and you will find a way to fulfil it.
