Australian Defendant on Deceit Sued for 2.5 Years
An Australian, Barry Kavin Grossman (53), the defendant of alleged deceit that harm his victim around US$ 236 thousands, is sued for two and half years in prison.
“Based on the evidence presented in the court, the defendant is proved guilty as what is mentioned on the accusation based on Article 378 KUHP,” said the General Prosecutor I Nyoman Sucitrawan in the trial at Denpasar District Court.
Therefore, he asked the judges panel led by Cening Budiana to sentence the defendant for two and half years in prison based on severe and lenient considerations.
The severe thing is not confessing his action and too twisty in giving statement on the trial, while the lenient one is the defendant always comes on time so it expedites the trial.
“Later, all evidences are returned to the victim Patrick Finlay. And deciding that the defendant has to pay criminal cost of Rp 5,000,” said Sucitrawan.
Responding to the accusation, the defendant through his lawyer, Chris Harno, lodged a defensive statement or plea.
The judge panel continued the next trial on the following week with agenda of hearing the defendant’s plea.Filed under: Headlines
