Forecasts for week beginning Saturday, September 7, 2013.

By Jonathan Cainer

Mercury, this week, moves into Libra just as Venus moves out. This implies economic upturn for Virgo and Libra, adventure for Gemini and a new deal for Taurus. It may also suggest creative inspiration for Scorpio, though Mars, this week, forms a right angle to Saturn, then an awkward alignment to Pluto – so for Scorpio (and Aries too) the outlook is ‘mixed’. Capricorn and Aquarius face deadlines, Leos too, are under time pressure. Links, meanwhile, from Mercury to Jupiter bode well for Piscean trade and Sagittarian success. And Jupiter’s ongoing presence in the crab is good for all Cancerians.

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Small children like to hear the same bedtime story, night in, night out. It makes them feel comforted and reassured. There is a small child somewhere, within us all, so this may be why, as adults, we often act out the same old dramas, time and time again. Unconsciously we are seeking security and stability. It doesn’t do us much good, though, if the roles we end up playing are counterproductive. A long-established routine now needs to be replaced by a new rhythm based on a new attitude and expectation.

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
Is something making you nervous? Are you feeling a little pushed, rushed, put upon and provoked? It could just be that this is precisely the kind of annoyance you need. It is all very well saying, ‘I would like a quiet life.’ But surely, you do not also want a dull one? Excitement requires stimulation. Often this cannot help but take the form of aggravation. Here is a real question. Do you also have a sense of hopelessness? If so, overcome this, for as long as you pursue positive action, all will be well.

GEMINI(May 22 – June 22)
A little eccentricity is a fine thing. Even besuited business executives are encouraged to ‘think outside the box’. They are urged to be lateral and to indulge in ‘blue sky’ creative exercises. They often have to be shown how to do this by special consultants, hired at vast expense. Why? Because, although invention ought to come naturally to us all, our world requires us to repress it. Most of the time we are expected to be sensible. You now fear that a particular idea is far too crazy. It is not. It is just crazy enough.

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
The world is becoming more telepathic than it used to be. People are less afraid to ‘own’ their intuition. We no longer feel like we must apologise for having a hunch that we cannot logically explain. Even so, we are not yet mind-readers. If you now need someone to understand you, you must make sure that you communicate with them. Your request cannot be granted unless you actually make it. But the Sun’s harmonious link to Jupiter in your sign, suggests that within reason, at least, what you reach for, you can get.

LEO (July 24 – August 23)
Life is full of surprises. Life is also full of gentle joys and precious pleasures. It is full of magic, hope, generosity and positive energy. Yet life is also often full of trouble and trauma, stress and strife, hassle and hardship. So how can life be full of all those things at once? And if it is really full, why does it often seem so empty? Mars is now in your zodiac sign, filling you with assertive energy. You are assuming a tense situation has a great deal to it. See it as big and it will become big. See it as small, and it will shrink.

VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
There is a possibility that this week, something or someone will confront you with what appears to be an awkward truth. If this happens, don’t argue back. Don’t feel bad about it either. Be ready to learn. Be ready to understand. Be ready to make a discovery that hurts a little, but which finally opens up a vital doorway. You have been cruising for too long, on autopilot. You have been ignoring a genuine opportunity. Here, thanks to Mercury’s departure from your sign, comes your delightful rediscovery.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Suits, boots, uniforms and outfits. All are clothes designed to disguise. There are certain dress codes that, if adhered to, will give you near invisibility. Nobody will see you; they will see the person you have come to represent. This is neither good nor bad, but it is something to remain aware of. Sometimes, too, we see people as symbols or icons, even if they are not especially dressed for the part. Though Mercury is now passing through your sign, it is important to respond to someone’s heart this week, not their role.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
The planets are now gently encouraging you to become much more successful and yet relaxed at the same time. The universe wants you to hold your head high, open your mouth wide, speak out and stride forward to show others the way. You are already doing your best? Then keep doing it. You don’t know what to do for the best? Then just do the one thing that you’re quite sure can’t possibly be ‘for the worst’. Do it with confidence and with Venus entering your sign this week, your doubt will soon turn to justified enthusiasm.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
They say the Devil makes work for idle hands. That’s a reason to keep busy this week. Not that there’s very much choice in the matter. Your hands are full and, if you will pardon the rather unfortunate mixing of metaphors, they are also tied. You have to do what you have to do, even though you doubt your own ability to do it. But then, what else would you be doing? Soon, you will have more strength and will feel less as if you are surrounded by enemies and critics. That will make all your tasks less stressful.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
Where others like to know what they have got, down to the last inch, minute or penny, you generally prefer to ‘guesstimate’. You have got good intuition. You may need now, though, to be a little more specific and detailed in your appraisal of a key matter. Sacrifice spontaneity for the sake of reassurance. Count properly, the chickens that have actually hatched and you’ll yet discover that you don’t need to sit around waiting for more eggs to prove productive. You’ve already got more of what you need than you realize.

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
We elect the lawmakers. We vote them in or out of power. It’s arguable whether the new lot are ever any better than the old lot, but at least we go through the ritual of feeling that we are ultimately their masters. Sadly, the same thing does not apply to the shapers of social protocol. What’s fashionable and what’s outdated? What’s to be applauded and what’s to be derided? The folk who decide this are always anonymous. As long as you are breaking no laws this week, you are safe to trust your own judgement.

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
It is all your fault. You are to blame. Entirely and completely. For everything. The rest of us can be let off the hook. There’s not so much as a stain on our character. Not a shred of guilt or culpability. Why should we bother looking at any part that we may have played, when you are so generously shouldering the whole burden? So, you go right ahead and carry on giving yourself a hard time this week. We will support you in this. We will even give you a hard time too, if you like. Though the truth is not so simple.
