Governor of Bali Support UNUD to Review the Name of ‘Udayana’


Bali governor supports the efforts of Udayana University (UNUD) Reviewer Team to examine the name of ‘Udayana’ who is known as the king of Bali in 989-1011. This review aims to learn more about the phenomenal figure of ‘Udayana’ and became the name of a street, the University, and other institutions.

“This is needed because we are very familiar with the name ‘Udayana’ and in Bali the name is very popular but many of us also do not know what and who is Udayana,” said Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika when greeting UNUD Study Team, in Denpasar, on Thursday.

‘Udayana’ is King of Bali in 989-1011. This study is expected to be completed soon since this will be very beneficial for the future generation. Pastika also suggested that the team involving all relevant agencies in each regency and ordered the Department of Culture to be involved in the review study.

“I think what should be done to be done soon, because this is related to our children and grandchildren. If this is not done, I am afraid no one will know, therefore I strongly support this but it is also a work for all of us,” he added.

The UNUD Review Study Team Leader Prof. Dr. I Ketut Ardhana hope that this study is expected to be a source of knowledge pertaining to ‘Udayana’ such as where the location of His kingdom, how the real face of King Udayana is and later can generate an output of Udayana monument.
