Alila Villas Uluwatu Bali Wins ‘Best Dressed Hotel’ At Inaugural Smith Hotel Awards
Alila Villas Uluwatu in Bali has won the much-coveted ‘Best Dressed Hotel’ category at the inaugural Smith Hotel Awards, as well as being named as runner up for the prestigious ‘Best Smith Hotel 2013’, the most hotly contested award of the night. The resort’s striking design combined with its jaw dropping setting proved a winning combination, cementing the hotel’s position as one of the most desirable hotels worldwide.
The awards, created by the boutique hotel experts Mr. and Mrs Smith, celebrated everything from the best looking to the best cooking. Created to pay homage to the world’s most desirable hotels, the awards also coincided with Mr and Mrs Smith’s 10th anniversary.
Alila Villas Uluwatu beat off stiff competition from more than 900 Smith hotels, with nearly 50,000 people taking part by public vote before a panel of 36 expert judges whittled it down to just 12 ultimate winners. The winners were announced in a glittering ceremony held in London last week, attended by over 600 of the most influential people in the hospitality industry.
Set on the rugged coast of Bukit Peninsula in Bali, Alila Villas Uluwatu, is a cool and contemporary resort that combines eco-friendly design with a dramatic backdrop. The hotel has become known for its iconic ‘bird’s nest’, a relaxing space that is suspended over the side of limestone cliffs with sweeping panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Judges from the Smith Awards described Alila Villas Uluwatu as “Undoubtedly the chicest cliff top in the world…breath-taking views, endless relaxation and service beyond anything experienced before.”
In addition Alila Villas Soori, on the southwest coast of Bali, came 5th in the ‘Sexiest Hotel’ room category, thanks to its contemporary sensual architecture, that blends seamlessly into the surrounding paddy fields and coastline.Filed under: Harmony
