Dozens of Doctors Rally against Criminalization
Dozens of doctors in Denpasar, Bali, rallied refusing the criminalization of doctor, as a form of protest and concern over legal action experienced by their colleague in Manado, North Sulawesi.
“This protest is as a form of sympathy and rejection of what happened to our colleague,” said one of protesters, dr. Krishna Wibawa in Denpasar on Wednesday.
The peaceful demonstration was held in front of the entrance to Sanglah General Hospital inevitably invited the public attention.
They unfurled some white banners that mainly rejected the criminalization to doctors as saying “Patient Safety Yes, Criminalization to Doctor No”.
Dressed in a white coat with black ribbon, the medical workers speak out their aspiration to people who passed by and who will enter the largest hospital in Bali.
Furthermore, the Head of Emergency Room Installation (IRD) Sanglah Center General Hospital explained that the doctors today also showing their solidarity to their colleagues by going on strike for a day as a result of the illegal action that was given to their colleagues.
However, the service in Sanglah hospital and maternal labor continue to run normally.
“Service in the IRD and for labor is still running normally, there is no change,” said Krishna.
The same thing was also expressed by the Head of Public Relations Sub – Sanglah Hospital, dr. Kadek Nariyantha stated that even in situation of concern and one day of strike, the IRD and the services still take place normally.
In addition to holding a peaceful demonstration, the doctors who are members of the Indonesian Obstetrics and Gynecology Association (POGI) will also hold a seminar on Kertalangu Cultural Village that will be presented by doctors and criminologists.Filed under: The Island
