Bali and NTT to Host the 2014 Asia Pacific Hash
Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) increasingly accommodate the implementation of special interest tourism activities. One that will be implemented, which is one providing cross-country (hash).
2014 Wonderful Adventure Indonesia: Asia Pacific Hash (WAI – ASPAC) will be held in Bali and East Nusa Tenggara on 10 to 13 May 2014. A similar event held previously in Central Java named 2012 Borobudur International Hash, which was also followed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
“This activity is to encourage recreational travel as the flagship (focus of development) of special interest tourism. It has been set in August, that it will take place in Bali and Labuan Bajo, Flores,” said Director General of Tourism Destination Development Kemenparekraf, Firman Rahim, in the opening speech of 2014 WAI – ASPAC launching in Jakarta, on Thursday.
Hash activity, according to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Mari Elka Pangestu on the same occasion, is a recreational event combined with exercise in the form of walking and running.
“Hash is the activity carried out in which they walk and run with various levels of difficulty. It is done in the hill, field and countryside. Encouraging the aspects of sport but also to promote the travel destination,” she said.
“This event is a very enjoyable exercise in the tourist spot. It’s like the combination of tourism and sports. Stay healthy and be happy,” she added.
Last year, said Mari, a similar event was held and it was very successful. The 2012 Borobudur Interhash was followed by 5,000 participants. While this year, until 22 November 2013, there were 1,796 participants have signed up. They came from various countries such as Australia, U.K., Brunei, China, the Netherlands, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia and New Zealand.Filed under: Headlines
