Nine Cruises Will Dock in Bali

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) III, Perak Surabaya recorded during the period of December, especially just before the Christmas and New Year holiday, there will be nine cruise ships coming into the Port of Benoa, Bali.

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) III Public Relation, Edi Priyanto on Saturday, stated that the trend of cruise ship’s visit to Port of Benoa Bali, experienced significant growth, particularly the presence of the tourist attraction in Bali is one of the favorite destinations for tourists.

“Based on the data, cruise ship arrivals in Indonesia increase 70 percent, the cruises visited the islands in eastern Indonesia, mainly Bali,” said Edi.

Edi added that for the development of terminal and port area in Benoa, PT Pelindo III poured investment for South and East pier reinforcement cost Rp100 billion.

Among them are the development of the domestic passenger terminal costs Rp8 billion, the construction of pontoons for small yachts Rp2 billion and the dredging of the turning basin to a depth of 12 meters costs Rp60 billion.

“Mainly, Benoa port is ready to accept the arrival of such a large size cruise ship,” he said.

While data from the Pelindo III in Perak Surabaya, three cruises simultaneously came to Benoa Bali. Those ships were the MV Volendam, MV Seabourn Odyssey and MV Astor visiting Benoa Bali Harbour on 6-7 December 2013.

At least 2,500 foreign tourists came down and visited tourism objects on the island.
