Smuggling of Drugs Worth Rp9.5 Billion Thwarted
Customs officers at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, blocked drug smuggling attempt in the form of shabu – shabu by two suspects of international network with a total weight of 4.7 kilograms estimated to be worth Rp9.5 billion.
“The drug brought by the two suspects was methamphetamine of first quality from India,” said the Head of Surveillance and Customs Service Ngurah Rai, I Made Wijaya on Monday.
Ngurah Rai Customs officer first arrested the suspect identified as ISU aka Ika (39) from Garut, West Java, on Saturday.
From the suspect’s suitcase, officers found methamphetamine weighing 3.212 grams hidden in the case cavity. Wijaya explained that initially the suspect insisted not providing information related to the origin of the illicit goods in the form of white crystals.
The second suspect was identified as L (44) shortly after landing from New Delhi, India and transit in Singapore on Sunday using Garuda Indonesia flight GA 843 at 4.30 pm.
From the woman who was known as a kindergarten teacher, officers found methamphetamine weighing 1.547 grams wrapped in a brown bag hidden in the trunk cavity.
Officers believed that the suspect ISU is courier while L acts as a couriers recruiter simultaneously controlling for international drug distribution network.Filed under: Headlines
